Anyone using it finally?
Its been quite a while since N-Track went to a 64 bit version. Even Cakewalk lists it on their 64-bit computing page. I’ll never use Vista, but there is always XP 64 pro for about $140.
Has anyone been using that combination. If so do you see any significant performance gains?
I have a Turion ML-32 notebook and am considering that option. Its probably been mentioned in this forum before, but from what I understand, most of the gains would come in the form of faster DSP calculations. On the microsoft XP 64 page there is an article by someone who uses the above combination (Turion+ XP 64) for photoshop and says the transforms go a lot faster. On the CW site they mention more tracks of course…

Hi nocents:
It’s been a while sense you’ve been around here…
What build are you at with n-Track right now?
Are you “Post” NET Framework?
I’m not so sure that many of the Big Time Audio Boys are using XP X64 as an operating system…
That being said…
it’s tough to get Plug-ins and audio utilities for that operating system…
I’m currently at the latest build of n-Track…
It’s been a struggle at times…
The issues I had were to get some of the purchased plugins and n-Track to work properly together…
The very latest VST Plugins are what is called REV. 11 (or something) applications…
Some of these plugins wouldn’t work properly unless you’re connected to the Internet…
It has something to-do with their secure operation…
and all…
among other things…
When I tell them I’m an n-Track multi-track editor user they ask me how long I’ve used n-Track and then sort of back away from me…
Others have been very good to me and do their best to get me up-and-running…
It seems…
The pro-Audio Guys are very SET in their ways…
They don’t like to be on the Cutting Edge of technology…
for that very reason…

Hi Bill
I see you are as busy as ever contributing to this forum which is cool. I've been occupied touring which I hated. During that time I got into Reaper and left old nT on the shelf - gone but definitely not forgotten - especially when there's hours of recordings in it!
I read some of Flavio's blog entries and he described how he has to balance the old code with new features and improvements - the same old dilemma. nT5 is looking more competitive than ever, and sooner or later he's going to have to make some kind of break with the past, and I'm sure that version of nT will surpass its competitors by far.
The reason I ask about 64 bit windows, aside from seeing Sonar take advantage of it, nT does also. Some of the "big boys" are now using xp 64 + nT, but I doubt they'd publicly admit that. I was thinking about some upgrades to my now outdated notebook such as a faster processor. It dawned on me that making use of its 64 bit processor was a much easier upgrade. The drivers are not a problem for my soundcard and 64 bit nT has 64 bit effects.
Your plug-in troubles are very familiar to me. Some that I used would crash nT all the time. Thats why I use mostly free plug-ins since I can try 100 or more and find which are stable. Most of them are far more than I need. The stuff with nT has been more than what I've needed, for that matter.
I'm planning on setting up a dual boot drive for xp32 and xp64 so I can work on audio and do the usual e-mail on the same machine. We should be getting out money's worth out of these things!!

- almost forgot your question - i use both the last versions of 3 & 4. i always hoped that 3 would get cleaned up because it so simple. at this point i might wait to see what happens when nT turns 6 before upgrading.
Hello, hope on topic ,
do you know, that latest intel celerons 5xx (520, 530 currently) allows 64bit too? (seems like “core2solo” without speedstep and with smaller cache)
do you know, that intel 64bit processors runs “amd64” code (in fact intell followed AMDs instruction set extensions, as AMD was first - tried 64bit ubuntustudio linux, for example)
For example, cheapest “acer extensa 5220” notebook with 2G RAM, have someone tried it?
I unfortunatelly cannot, mine has ubuntustudio to play with, but I will definitelly test latest nTrack on HP 6715s (AMD Turion64X2) with Vista32/64 ASAP and I will report important differences here.

Hi Gents … on this Thread:
I got busy and didn’t reply…
I know Flavio has been good to the guys that are users n-Track that have old-and-out-dated Hardware like me.
I use Lexicon Core-32 Audio Hardware that has no Drivers created past '98SE or 2000…
I’m not at the latest build of n-Track with that machine… somewhere around v5.xx…
but not the latest build…
It’s a dual boot '98SE and XP Home SP 2, P-4 Intel machine…However, I’ll be updating that Studio Machine…
Some of the issues I have with that setup is…
Connecting to my LAN System…
If I could get past that issue I’d be off-and-running, again…
Anyway, I got all of the issue fixed with the Bought-and-Paid-for VST Plug-ins I have…
Flavio and the VST Plug-in Publishers have worked very hard to get the issues I had with them…
A big thanks goes out to them for working on them for me… Most of the issues I had was to get the plugs to register/authorize… and recognize the operating systems…
If it would be of any help I will do a print-screen of my VST list as it shows on my P-111 Intel machine…
All of these plugs works well with my setup, however, I don’t use all of them… I just have them installed-and-working…
and available to use…
I have quite a long list of VST Plugs that I have yet to install…
Someday, I’ll get busy and install them…
