a way for apps to use more than 2gig

Hi sevenOfeleven:
That’s a nice report…
After reading it I discover that I could be as much as 10 years behind in computer technology…
I have one machine that has two strips of ram in it…
totaling 1 gig… The other machines have 512 megs of ram…
I can see that I don’t have much of a chance of running those drum sample re placer applications…
or any plug-ins that require piles of ram for that matter.
Bill…
On the bright side Bill, RAM has gotten awfully cheap lately; I don’t imagine you can’t find some extra at a decent price point on the web somewhere, though it might not be worth it on your W98 machines…
'til next time;
Tony
Hi wynot:
Thanks for the reply wynot…
I hear you…
Here’s what happened recently with this P-111 machine…
I have been tolerating random reboots with it…
The resolve for the failure as Windows described …
was to replace the ram… The report didn’t go into specifics…
however, it suggested that replacing the ram would or might correct the random reboots…
I went looking for the ram at the local level…
However, the ram is hard to find as there is no call for this type…
I found a place that had a few pieces of it…
and I decided to pick up a couple of sticks…
When I got there they had one stick left… I wanted 3 sticks to fill the three slots on the main board…
What I ended up with was…
one stick to replace the thought-to-be faulty stick…
I hate to go looking for more…
This stuff was worth the earth…
and…
for an old machine??
I’d put it down to supply-and-demand controls the price and turnover…
I don’t think I should mix-and-match old and new ram…
in case something might happen to the new expensive ram I just bought for this machine…
The random reboots have diminished to a trickle after I replaced the ram…
I’m willing to tolerate the random reboots that hits this machine now…
Bill…
Here lately, my memory is 0 - bit…

Bill - it’s 2009 already - Win98 will be 11 in June. Your next investment should be a rock solid box!
Has any one installed the laatido file yet?
I KkNnOoWw…
Isn’t that depressing
Eleven years of trying to find work-arounds for an Operating System that never quite worked…
Apple-and-Mac made a fortune from the Windows Blunders… Windows and Billie should be ashamed of themselves…
Steeling Atari’s ideas and then screwing it all up…
AND…
It continues…
Has it been that long.?
Where has the time gone.??
Has any one installed the laatido file yet?
I got it downloaded but I don’t have it installed yet…
Fire that thing up
and give us a three page detail’d report on what it does…
I’ll be look’in for it by 2:30 am your time…

Hehhehe…
Bill…
[EDIT]
You’re next investment should be a rock solid box…
Should it be big enough to carry all my loonies

PW I haven’t installed it yet. My thinking was if you have to load
up several instances of EZ for example- then you could run into memory limitations. From what I read - this proggie let’s you have access to more memory. I want to load a couple of instances of EZ because I want to
say have snares on a seperate track to tweak independently. Same with
other pieces of a kit (or other kits) - but I haven’t got there yet.
You’re not trying to do EZD in n-track are you?
Ha Ha
I got to tell you - I mainly use N after I get tracks
in .wav format to use some automation functions and
other things that N seems to do well. I don’t have any
one sequencer that I rely on exclusively. Even R.
I find Samplitude much easier to edit midi that R or N.
Plus I use Chainer for guitar - because it is very flexible
with the use of plugins and effects.
Flavio says midi clips are coming this month!
I’m holding my breath
