First of all, I’m liking the new “Import wave file” dialog, it’s a much better layout - the only thing that might make it even easier to use (as it’s something I do a lot) is if the offset M:B:T could “auto-advance” in a similar way to Audacity, so you don’t risk deleting the colons.
Now, the thing that seems to be a bug, is when trying to adjust the audio buffering settings, if you use the Buffering settings menu option, the changes do not appear to persist - the only way to change this is through Audio devices/Buffering settings.
Thanks for the suggestion regarding the MBT editing.
As for the buffering settings box, I wasn’t able to reproduce any issue with it, I can change the buffering even when opening it directly from the Settings menu. Note that depending on the audio drivers that you’re using, some buffering combinations may not be supported, so if you select them the settings will revert to the setting that the drivers defaulted to. Also when using Asio drivers you can’t change the buffering size from the Buffering settigs box, you should instead change them from the driver’s Asio control panel.
If you can reproduce an issue please send a short video showing what’s happening.
Here’s a link to a video, I thought maybe through the direct menu entry it was because the driver didn’t support those settings, but it seems to accept them when going through Audio Devices?
In the video you’re setting 4096 which is not usually supported by Wasapi drivers (which typically need smaller buffering). If you set it with the Audio devices box open, the audio engine is in a stopped state, so it will look like the setting has worked, however when you close the Audio devices box, the audio engine will negotiate the settings with the audio driver and will change the buffering to one that the driver supports. So if after setting to 4096 you reopen the buffering settings box after closing the Audio devices box, you should find that the settings are no longer the ones you previously set.
When you instead open the buffering settings box from the Settings menu, the audio engine is running so it will immediately adjust the buffering from the one you set to one supported by the audio driver.
Thanks Flavio, I didn’t realise there would be a difference between “running” and “stopped” with those 2 menu options. Is there a list somewhere of the buffering settings supported by Wasapi?
