I’m sitting here watching one of the most disgusting things I’ve seen on TV… Our wonderful free press practicing damage limitation.
Two news choppers crashed over Phoenix while following a car chase, both crews killed.
My first thought was sorrow for those crews and their families, and all the witnesses to that horiible event.
My second thought was thank God they crashed over a park. It’s near downtown Phoenix and the whole area is covered with houses, schools and office buildings, so praise be no one else was killed.
Al local TV channels are still covering the story. They are blaming the guy who was being chased by the cops, they are blaming the cops, but not on single one of them is questioning if this chase needed six news choppers following it.
I’ve seen this so many times here happening over and around my own home, and I’ve never thought “if”, just “when”.
So don’t you figure the news channels should be asking what part they played in the tragedy?
Don’t you believe it. The only comment I heard about that was channel 15 saying that they cover these stories so that they can protect and provide information for the public.
Garbage! Ch 3 and Ch 15 ain’t PBS. They make plenty of money and that’s why they exist.
It sickens me to watch some bimbo wipe a tear from her eye when she talks about her dear friend the chopper pilot when all she’s thinking about is her viewing figures.
The way the news channels are handling this disgusts me. I’m ashamed to be part of this stinking city.
Sorry about that guys. I have to go work now, and I have to get my mind in a musical mode. But I feel so freeking angry!
Bimbo?
What channel did you say that was on?

Love the way you carved out that key critical point Jerm.
news gets on my nerves too Gizmo. Sometimes I find myself scratching my head over WHY they would waste my time reporting the mess that they report. There IS real news going on! And the way they bait you! I mean, are you going to enlighten me or is this the prelude to a friggin’ movie!
Loss of life is always sad, but tv news teams are disgusting. I don’t wanna know how the mother felt after her child was hit and killed by a car, being a parent and grandparent I already know how it would feel. Last thing I would want is a mic shoved in my face in a time of grief.
It’s all about ratings and advertising dollars. Not news. Local news stations are a hoax, even the weather. You turn on the weather to see which way a storm is moving, all I want to see is thestupid radar. I get a 5 day forecast, beach forecast, mountain forecast, and a brief5 sec look at radar. And the bimbo doing the weather won’t shut up!
Giz it is time for the local news stations to accept responsibility for events such as the helicopter crashing. I feel sorrow for those families of the loved ones lost!
Do what I do, turn that thing off!
Let their ratings crash and show them how you really feel about them freaking vultures.
A few years ago I tore down that dish from my wall and threw it in the garbage where it rightly belonged, along with the decoder.
My new LCD screen shows DVDs 99,5% of the time it’s on, which is almost never.
Last summer while visiting phoo, we counted six (I think?) news-choppers over downtown Seattle, all covering the same story - an indoor shooting. WTF
Crazy!

I do have a way with words…tee hee
Have no fear, I have been following all the latest “rants” and even came close to responding a few times…but had not the time.

But that one was short and sweet and I could not resist.

I do hope Gizmo comes back with the answer in time, they do not show re-runs of those shows! lol

News people suck… Once upon a time there was some integrity amongst news people. Now the advertising dollar rules. It’s a sorry state of affairs IMO.
I’m with Teryeah, turn the idiot box OFF and make music instead.

Best advice I've seen in eons!
How one network reported that up here was… We have electronic avoidance systems on our news gathering helicopters… That wouldn’t have happened up here…
I think the world is spinning too fast… We need to find a way to slow down the earth’s rotation…
?
Those helicopters wouldn’t have come together 50 years ago…
Bill…
