Another System Optimizing Tool

Hey all,
I ran across this freeware item that defrags your memory.
Frees up ram. I’ve used it for 2 weeks and actually notice an increase in speed of programs loading. I don’t think it’s just in my head. The stats showed that I was using 41% ram. After running the program (less than a minute) that figure went down to 18% ram in use. I’ve only got 512 so every little bit helps! It’s called fast defrag and they sell a Pro version too (of course).

I just downloaded that- thanks for the link, James. I think I’m going to do a little more homework on it before I install, but it looks like a fine idea.

Hi James927:
Thanks for that link… Is that application called FastDefrag2 ?? 700+ kbs… in size?

Bill.

You’re welcome, Sloom.
I say this on a television program a couple of years ago (TechTV) and then ran across it again a few weeks ago.
I’ve had it installed for a couple of weeks now - no pop up adds, no virus, no spyware.

I have a commercial proggie I bought that does the mem defrag thang. It does help. Especially when using a memory intensive VSTi like Proteus LE which loads samples into RAM. I have fairly good results streaming them from disk so it’s not a biggie either way…

Hi Bill,
Yes - it’s fastDefrag2 free version. I looked at the pro (pay for it) version and don’t see any difference at all.

Hi James927:
I got it… Thanks I’ve only used the Windows Defrag Utility, here… I’ll load it and see how it behaves… In fact I should be doing a defrag

Bill…

Hi Bill,
While Windows Defrag takes care of defraging the hard drive,
it’s my understanding that fast defrag actually defrags your ram. Just in case there was any question.

Hi James927:
I’m gonna install that utility…

I remember back in those windows '95 Pentium 90 and 166 days… I’ll never forget… I think I defrag’d that poor 1 gig drive every day… I think that’s what did it in… I know I was still there when I first installed n-Track… I’d say I defrag this XP boot drive every month or so, now… It wouldn’t hurt me to be more maintenance wise, though…

Bill…
