ASIO perplexion

Funny little drivers!

When the ASIO drivers are selected, I cannot change the bit depth. It’s default to sixteen.

When I selected the ASIO 24/96 driver (I have no idea what this means, only a hunch). It defaulted to 24 bit unpacked, left justified. And I could not change this option.

I trolled the threads a bit, but couldn’t find any info.

Happy Friday!!

My guess is that you need to select the bit depth from the asio drivers’ own control panel (select Asio settings—>Asio Control Panel from the Select audio format dialog).

It doesn’t hurt to restart n-Track whenever you have made any changes there.

Thanks! I’ll try that today. :)

The Creative Asio Driver is 16 bit, and that’s it.

The Creative Asio 24/96 driver is 24 bit, (the clue’s in the name :))

And if it wants to use 24 bit left justified, why not let it? ???

Well, as far as the left justified - it only seems to be inputing to the left channel, however, for the purpose of recording some percussion, I want two stereo tracks.

You have your routing set up wrong then. 24 bit left justified refers to the way the BITS of each sample are placed. NOT what channels get recorded where. Unrelated terms here…

Check your settings with the little hammer icon on the recording Vu meter.

That’s kind of what I thought. I’ll check it out tonight. Thanks to all :)
