Beta versions = expire Aug 1?

Are version 5 codes good for version 6?

I am using the Beta 6 and loving it. It activates with the version 5 codes, but someone said that the beta expires on Aug 1. Does that mean that the going from version 5 to version 6 is a for fee upgrade?
Anyone know? the download seems to say version 5 codes are good for version 6.

I think your codes made it good beyond Aug 1st. All ver 5 codes are good for 6 free. That’s my understanding anyway.

uh, Poppa, shouldn’t all your posts be in triplicate?

NO Yaz - I only deal with redundancy - I try to avoid creating it.

I heard from Flavio. Only recent purchases of version 5 will be upgraded for free. If you have version 5 that you bought a while ago, before the announcement of version 6, there will be a cost to go from 5 to 6. No problem - the program is worth an upgrade fee!

Ouch... I have had V5 for a long time. Actually I upgraded to it soon as it came out. Now I'm wondering if V6 is going to be worth more cash or not. So far, I think not... but we'll see. I may upgrade anyway. Flavio has to have users (read: cash) to encourage further development.

I dunno... money is tight these days.

D

I will gladly pay for an upgrade.
The software is THAT good.

But, it does say this on the ‘buy’ page:

Quote:

n-Track Studio registered users will receive free upgrades to all future n-Track Studio 5.x and 6.x releases

But then… there is this added:

Quote:

n-Track Studio v6.0 is due to be released soon! Purchase to n-Track 5.x now and when version 6.0 will be released you’ll be able to upgrade to it and to all subsequent 6.x versions for free.

It’s confusing, no?

Mostly because we all love the word FREE! Let’s keep Flavio eating and programming.

Hmmm…

I purchased version 5 in the spring because I hoped it would work better (read: be more stable) than version 4. To my surprise, I never was able to get version 5 to work on any of my computers. Now version 6 is out. Will I be able to “upgrade” to version 6 for free, or will I have to pay again for a product that doesn’t work?

Please do not that this the wrong way. I have paid for N-Track 5 times (I actually lost my serial numbers a few times and just paid again for it because I wanted to support a good working program). But having gotten burned on versions 4 and 5 (version 4 was unstable and version 5 never worked on any of my machines), I am hesitant to buy another version.

So again the question is, will version 6 be free for me or not?

I don't think that answer is clear yet Doc. You can use your V5 codes to authorize V6 if you wanna play around with it unencumbered. There are some improvements to be sure. Nothing to shoot up rockets and get out the marching band for... but improvements nonetheless...

My 24 bit version 5 codes are good. Yours should be a free upgrade to 6.

The codes work for the purposes of the beta. the download site for 5 says:

“n-Track Studio v6.0 is due to be released soon! Purchase to n-Track 5.x now and when version 6.0 will be released you’ll be able to upgrade to it and to all subsequent 6.x versions for free.

The upgrade to version 6.x is also free for users who have purchased version 5.x on or after the 1st of May 2008”
