Big Blow

Has Blown…

Earl has
Blown Over

It could have been worse…
They tinkered with the power grid… It was out for an hour-or-so…
I don’t think it was the wind that took the power…
Who Knows…
???
:)

Bill…

Hey Bill, don’t you have a birthday coming up? :)

AaHh…
This year the Unions created a Holiday in my honour…
:)
I’m gonna have to file a grievance…
I need a day off in lieu of the Holiday…
:p
Where did the year go ????
Gents…?

Bill…

Happy one there, Bill!!!

Thank you TomS:

I’m still looking at the grass from the green side…
It’s just beautiful over here…
I used to like the Board years ago… I could see all the Birthdays as they came around… I guess I don’t know how to con fig the board to be able to see the Birthdays as they come around…

sigh…

I’m constructing one of them Portable car ports…
It’s 12’ x 20’… Hey…
it’s as small as the studio…
:)
They say it’s a two man job to put it up…
However, it’s only me here…
I had one end panel up before the Big Blow…
I decided to take it down to weather out the storm…
Anyway, I hope to build it today… We’ll see…
The Frenchmen up along the St. Lawrence River, all use them…
It snows everyday over/up there, in the winter…
They build them as close to the edge of the street as they can…
They don’t shovel snow over there.
The one I have is in a vulnerable place… There is no protection for it to the weather… I don’t plan to use it till I see how it weathers…

I’ve got lots on my list TO-DO… If I can be lucky and get it up, then,
I’ll be going back to that Midi Session to see if I can learn why it’s behaving the way it is…
The tracks aren’t making a whole lot of musical sense to me, right now and the way they are, on the timeline…

Bill…

I’m back here to report on the Portable Car Port project…

It’s up and All…
except…
one of the end panels (the roll-up) entry panel has blown away…
I was sure I had it secure from the weather… However, the wind got to it and it’s nowhere to be seen…

I’ll update the photo blog…
I need to call the distributor to see if I can order a replacement panel…

Lets see if it weathers the rest of the fall and winter seasons…
???
:)
:p

Bill…

Pictures?

Hi TomS:

I thought I put the Portable Car Port link up…

Anyway, I need a place to put the studio construction material-and-what-not in as the studio construction winds down…
The
P{ortable Car Port Link is here…
It’s a 12’ x 20’ foot x 8’ high tent…
so-to-speak…
The finished structure turned out to be somewhat better than I imagined…
We’ll have to see how it stands up when the weather gets ugly, though…
I hope it don’t blow away…
I’m still waiting for the replacement Roll-up /front panel to arrive…
Not here yet…
It’s coming in from Watertown, Connecticut…

Bill…

I know you had the link up before, but I was too lazy to go look for it!

This weekend we have an Air Show going on…

I live within earshot of the Military Airfield (Shearwater)…
It’s just over the hill and closer to the shore/Halifax Harbour entrance…
There’s a nice display of American Military Aircraft, including what the Canucks have, and all…
The Airfield was important during the Second World War… Shearwater is now used for Military Search and Rescue and is a Helicopter Training Base…
Well, mostly…
However, they keep it open for the Military that fly between here and Europe…
In case they run into trouble… We are on the Flight-Path for most trans-Atlantic Flights…

Anyway, I’d like to get some photos of the Hardware they have here…
It (they) fly not much more that a few hundred feet overhead…
We’ll see…
The wind has been up for a few days now…
The displays are mostly on the ground this weekend…
It’s funny to watch the bird population… They don’t know how to react to all the noise going on, when the planes fly over…

Back Again:

The Portable Car Port Project is winding down…
The replacement roll-up front panel arrived from Connecut and I finally found the time to install and begin setting up the fabric tension…
I need to adjust the panel fitting-and-all…
It takes time to allow the fabric to adjust to the supports and trusses…
The updated photo blog shows the completed panel installation, for anyone interested…

I hope it stands the weather…
We got Hurricane Igor on it’s way up the shore…
We’ll see…
:)
???

Bill…

I am a little late posting but I was in Maine when Earl came through and we got some good wind & rain but that was about it.

I’ve updated the Portable Car Port Photo Blog…

I am installing and stressing the trusses with turn buckles-and-guy wires… It is an update to the original design… It will take some time and material, to complete…
It’s gonna help to support the structure in the event of high winds…
We had a big blow yesterday…
The weather came in from the Great Lakes Region…
We had 80-90 mph winds…
I was surprised to see it still standing this morning…

Anyway, I have to give it all the support and advantage possible, with the type of weather we have around here…
