three big muff guitars. :)

Cool, luv the guitar tones. :)

Surprisingly OK sounding, eh?

Hi TomS:

That sound is how I remembered all the guitar players sounded when they used them on their stages…
Nice sound… :agree:

Somehow, I seem to remember them being hard on batteries…

The name of the company that made them was
Electro Harmonics ????

I don’t remember them coming with a Battery Eliminator/Wall Wart…
If I remember correctly, all the guys went looking for an adaptor…
BUT They never seemed to work right with wall warts…
They were noisy and had 60 hz hum and all…
They never seemed to unplug the cables from them which drained the batteries every-other-night when they did week-long stands… Many of the guys had heavy feet and ended up breaking the by-pass switches…

That’s what I seemed to remember about them when I worked at the Musicstop…

Bill…

Just pulled my old one out of storage.
I bought it about 1976 so I think it is the period we are talking about.
There is a battery eliminator jack, and I remember using that because, yes, it ate up the batteries.
But I never had any buzzing problems.

And I did break the little red on/off switch once, it was not very road tough, but I was able to repair it easily myself.

Not a lot inside of it.
But the tone is classic.

Definitely solid state distortion. I have a handful of distortions, including the Obsessive Compulsive Overdrive by Fulltone, which is cool, but this really is the sound I grew up with. I recognize that it’s not quite as harmonically rich as just killing tubes, but hey, to me this is what Cinnamon Girl sounds like when I play it. :)
