Need to look for a Clipped File
Hi n-Trackers:
Build 2081 is installed and running just fine on this P-111 machine…
I need to look for a clipped file to import into a timeline to see how this wave form scanning feature works…
Bill…
Hi Again:
This is an update to the earlier post… I followed Nils K XP link to…
**************************************
One site to check out is the MusicXP site - a lot of stability issues are addressed here, most of them relating to the ‘vanilla default’ configuration of Windows (the settings present right after installation).
**********************************************
I went down the list of all the config items and my P-111 XP desk is config’d with those settings. IT looks like a '98SE Desk… Well… All is O.K. I have only set this up and in operation for an hour-or-so… I see that some things behave differently when n-Track build 2081 is launched… We’ll see over time how this XP config behaves, in comparision to the out-of-the-box XP install…
One thing I still see is… The Pop-Up Screen that is searching for “Auto-Play”… I don’t know where to turn that OFF…
The other item is… On the taskBar down by the “Clock”… The Windows Security Alert Shield is present on the TaskBar… I made/followed the direction to remove IT from the system taskbar in the RegEdit panel but IT’s still there… on the taskbar… Is there any explanation that anyone can suggest as to how IT can be removed? Why IT’s still there?

Bill try going to “Control Panel” and selecting “Security Centre”. On the left click on “Change the way Security Centre alerts me”, and untick all of the resulting three options. Click OK, and the icon should leave the task bar.
Hi Mark:
Thanks for your reply… I’m off for a short while for dinner… Gotta go back for the afternoon. I’ll get to this as soon as I get done for the day…
I need to find a job that allows me to work when I have time?
This work’in for a liv’in’s gotta change… and soon…
And… the weather is so nice around here… I don’t know what we did to deserve all this sun… Not a cloud in the sky for a few days now… All I see is vapor trails from planes… All going over to the contenent… Going east in the day-time and west at night… 100’s of them… just steady… We are on the flight-path…
Bill…
Hi Mark:
I opened that security screen and saw three boxes there. I un-checked all three… Is thar a wise idea?
The security shield is not on the task bar anymore…
Bill…
This is an update to this topic…
I’ve been playing with this “Streamlined” XP Desk for a day-or-so… now…
I’m discovering that this machine is somewhat faster when I make “Mouse Commands”… Instead of waiting for the machine to complete a comand It’s already done… in most cases… In observing CPU Load in the lower left-hand corner of the n-Track desk. I see that the CPU Load on the TEST Project that I call to the timeline after installing a new build is some 5-8 percentage points, lower now… on the average…
I haven’t noticed much improvments in track streaming, not that I expected that to happen…
I’ll need to do some track editing on another project to see how that process behaves…
I am unable to put my finger on any one “Thing” that’s better… so-to-speak… I just sense that the machine has a “Cleaner” action to IT…
How that’ll behave when Tracking-in-n-Track? We’'ll have to wait and see…
Bill…
Hi Bill,
I’m curious about the P3 configuration you’re running the new build on.
Thanks, James
Hi James927:
It’s a Tough-Roe-to-Hoe for me to try to hang on to these old machines… I’m working on trying to stay “Current” with Operating Systems and Applications that require faster processors and more ram to just make them work…
You see… the Audio guys have some connection to the equipment that made them that last “Magic” Track… They all hope that the next “Magic” Track will be better than the last ONE they did on the same equipment…
In reality, that ain’t gonna happen… anymore…
THEY want you to throw all of that stuff out in the land-fill sites and start all over again…
With my stuff, I’m even haveing trouble getting XP to run right…
When I look around this Board I see all kinds of guys with new machines that have more serious issues than I, have…
What I need to do is, FIX these issues, one-by-one, and get busy and do some “Tracking”…
I’m attempting to “Streamline” this XP Home Operating System to be DAW Friendly, as opposed to configering this operating system for a DO-IT-ALL machine… So, in the process of doing this, I’m tossing out all the Things I got used to with the operating system as installed, “Outta-the-Box”… so-to-speak…
It’s not what you get used to… It’s what you get used to useing…
Now, I find, I’m working on finding “Work-around’s” - for - “Work-around’s”.
When my setup boots to the desk, it looks like I’m working on a '98SE operating system/desk… I had enough trouble getting out of '98SE… Now I’m back In-It-Again…
I appoligize for sounding negitive today… My P-111’s work just fine when they want-to… They make me feel so helpless when I’m useing them for music creativity… I’m being left outta the “Loop”… most of the time…
Sorry, Mabey I’ll feel better as the day goes, on…
I don’t think there is anything special about these P-111’s except to say they are loaded up with as much Hardware as can be stuffed into the cabinets… They are connected to a network hub and I can export and import files to them from other machines that I have connected to the hub/switch… I have to progress beyond this modem and telephone wire that I connect to the internet, with…

Hi Mark and All:
I have build 2082 installed and running.
And… I found a way to get the timeline to show level clips…
This is Great… Works like a charm… Thank You Flavio…
I added/duped the tracks till the sheer number of repeated tracks began to sum and clip the master strip…
At that point, “RED” sections of the track margin appears… showing the areas if what is on the timeline… clipping…
IT’s gonna help the guys who edit .npk files (including me) the areas of a track that needs to be altered according to the .npk file amplitude…
Bill…
Hi Bill,
Just wanted to quickly thank you for your reply (I’ve been offline for a couple of days.)
Happy tracking!
James
Hi Again:
I am at buiuld 2085 now and I’m still working on the “Streamlined XP Desk”… I find that, as I continue working with this desk, I’m forgetting how the default XP desk operated… The transition to this desk is moveing right along… I’m still waiting to see how the “Window’s Update”… manually, is gonna work… The jury is still out on turnning that OFF…
I haven’t messed with this DEP config. What advice for this P-111 setup I have can anyone suggest regarding this DEP?
I’d have to say that this P-111 set/machine is chugg’in right along…
Bill…
I been a little disapointed with N lately, but hopefully the new build will be good. I was wondering how much tinkering N needs before it’s pretty stable. I plan to make a list of the buggy stuff and maybe a wish list of things to have trim off of N. Anyway thats wishful thinking on my part. I would like to know if there was ever a general agreement as to how N should be. I know what I like, but this is not Burger King and can’t have it my way. I guess what I’m asking or hoping that Flavio can really focus on making N more stable than keep adding on more stuff. I really like N alot, but the mixing interface is not to my liking. Anyway what are everybodies thought on this and the need to really not have this program get to bloated. Thats my 2 cents and hope for N to be a great proggie.
