Can Not open long wave files

error exiting the data chunk

I get the error: error accessing wave file: error exiting the data chunk - when trying to open a 5 hour long .wav file with n-track. the file works fine in itunes but n-track only imports the first 50 minutes. I can’t import it as an mp3 file either. I’ve never had this problem in the past. I’ve reinstaled 6 times with different versions with no success.

Well I solved my Problem. first I used an mp3 splitter to break the file into 6 segments. then I imported the segments one file at a time. it turned out that one segment had an error, but n-track asked if I wanted it to try to recover the file, and succesfully did so.

My only thoughts are:
if you are using FAT32 file system,
then you are limited to 2gig file size.
But I think 5.5 hours is under 2gig
The other is - if you had to convert
sample rates say from 44 to 48 for your
sound card - it might push it over the
limit.
Also you say
"turned out that one segment had an error"
So are you saying that the original .wav was
corrupt?

It all started with an edirol r-09 mp3 file 152Mb. But ntrack was not able to import it without locking up. So i used a program to turn it into a 3.35Gb .wav file. No luck with that either. Both files seemed to play fine in Itunes, but later I found out that they did have an error in the middle of the file that prevented them from completing. I believe that without that error ntrack would have been able to handle the large mpeg layer 3 autio file.

But while you are there can you tell me how I can keep the timeline view from automatically jumping to the vertical cursor. I know that I had an option switch in an earlier version of ntrack to prevent that. I do not want them to sinc. I’m using 5.1.1 24 bit.
