Chillin' at a most awesome spot...

Did something different this year.

The fam wanted to go to the beach this year but we are kinda sick of the usual spots people from our part of the world sun at. The usual spots are full of kids just out of school, noisy, busy and mostly miserable.

Tried this spot…

It’s great… peaceful, laid-back, well off the beaten path and less expensive.

Looking at the night-time sky from the beach at night is feakin’ incredible! Looks like a blanket of Christmas Tree lights strung from horizon to horizon. Wish I had Poppa W’s 30" telescope!

The house has a nice DSL connection so I can keep in touch with the salt mine (boo!) and cruise by here.

Gotta run… I have a couple new books on “that other DAW” that I am reading through and working with the project files while everybody else snoozes. Loads of fun!

So you're using Pro Tools now?

So which coast D?

We are moving our annual fishing trip to a new beach this year, more laid back too. Just hope gas ain’t $20 a gal by Oct.

Have a great vacation bud!

(Pro Tools, too funny)

Yaz (recordists don’t fear the “REAPER”.)

It’s called Cape San Blas, Florida Yaz. It’s about an hour or so east of Panama City away from the mobs of teenagers. The peninsula Cape San Blas is on, has the Gulf of Mexico to the south and St. Josephs Bay to the north. Yesterday we waded out about a mile into the bay and the water never got up to my waist. Crystal clear water… seen all kinds of cool sea critters.

Going kayaking/canoing today. WOOT!

D

PS ProFools? Nah… I can’t afford the “good” ProTools stuff.

Awsum D! Wishin’ ya a great vacation!

Right on! Those are some of the best beaches in the world in that area. :agree: The old lady and I got married on the beach over in Destin.

You readin’ about Pro Tools? He he he!

Me & my friend Toro drove down to Ft Walton Beach FL on our way from Atlanta to Raleigh (!) last year. Parts of the area seemed cool but when we were there it was
a) spring break
b) heavy rain
so we did’t last for more than one night before we hit the road to the east coast.
We followed the water east to Tallahassee, then hit I10 to Jacsonville and headed north along the coast up to Wilmington NC, taking small roads as much as possible.
We got lost a few times, which was a lot of fun. Whenever we lost our way we used one of the following tactics:
1) Turn right
2) Follow any car that seems to know where we’re going
The funny thing is, it worked. Every time
:)

Right turn Clyde!

My wife and her mom took a trip to Savannah, GA a few years ago. They decided to drive up the coast to Charleston and see all the other stuff along the way. Everything was going well until one night I get a phone call.

ME: Schmello?

WIFE: Hey. We’re lost!

ME: Where?

WIFE: Well, we left Charleston before dark.

ME: Where are you going?

WIFE: We wanted to start heading back home to Alabama.

ME: Well, you have a road atlas. What’s the problem?

WIFE: How do I know which way is North?

This woman has NO sense of direction AT ALL!

ME: Well, let’s see, you are on the East Coast correct?

WIFE: I guess…

ME: Look above your rear view mirror… what do you see?

WIFE: "N"

ME: BINGO! The nose of your car is pointing NORTH!!

WIFE: Which way do I go to get home?

ME: ARRRRGGHHH! Look, if you go EAST anymore, you’ll have to swim! Find a major highway headed WEST. Find it on the Atlas and make your way home. I’m going to sleep, I have to work in the morning. Maybe I’ll see you in a day or two…

Several years back my ex took the kids down to the panhandle of Florida (don’t remember exactly where) while I stayed at home and worked. I had just got off the phone with her, with her telling me she planned to spend the night on the beach before heading back. I turned on the tv and was immediately informed that a hurricane was heading right for them. This was before cell phones were so common, so I couldn’t call her back. I just had to assume she had the good sense to change her plans. When they got back the next day, the kids told me the police just about had to force her off the beach. When she makes up her mind to do something, get out of the way… lol

In fairness, I should probably add that she has mellowed since those days, not so apt to put on the blinders and charge ahead.

Well I’m back home. Long butt drive today… I’m beat.

I’ll try to post some pics soon. We went down to the St. Josephs Peninsula State Park yesterday and hung out. You guys gotta see the pics. Beautiful, man… just beautiful!

D

Glad you got some time away D, and made it home safe.

Glad yer home safe dude.

Post some pics, supposed to be getting cable weds here, won’t take 2 days for pics to load, and can listen to tunes again, OH YES!

Pic time!

The first two are St. Josephs Bay…

These two are of the beach at the state park…

My youngest and I canoing… (I’m the one with the hand in front of the ugly.)

We had a great time. I HIGHLY recommend Cape San Blas and St. Josephs Peninsula State Park. Beautiful place and relatively cheap…

Sunset over Cape San Blas as seen over the Bay from Port St. Joe…

Did you catch the name on the canoe?

Look closely... "RUSH"

I thought it awfully fitting as I am a huge fan. :) The lady at the rental place pointed it out and said "Will this one do?" Grinning like a opossum I said "Yes ma'am. That will do just fine!"
