How do I display EQ oof ‘selected’ track
I’ve been using N-track for quite a while (since version 3.something) and can usually figure out things from the manual. But …
I’ve been using version 6 since last fall and when I had multiple tracks in a song, whenever I would select a track, I would see the ‘Track properties’ – i.e., the frequency plot of EQ settings and a compressor plugin on the right-hand side of the screen – below the ‘map’ showing all the tracks.
A couple weeks ago, I must have done something to change that, because now the ‘map’ showing all the tracks fills the rhs of the screen, and I have to click on the EQ knobs of a track to see what I used to see. (And clicking on the EQ knows of subsequent tracks just ADDS them to the display, and they keep getting smaller and smaller in vertical extent.) I found it really convenient to have the EQ settings of the ‘selected’ track displayed.
Does anyone know how I can get this back? (I’ve been reading and re-reading the manual for two weeks now, and can’t find anything describing this.)
Many thanks in advance!
The good news is; I know what you want is doable. The bad news is; I don’t have n anymore and can’t give you a step by step. Someone will chime in soon…
It’s got something to do with track properties or always “on” effect or summat… You have to make sure that window is open and docking enabled. Then drag it over to where you want it and let it “dock” or snap in place. It’s there somewhere… I didn’t like that so I always turned it off. Different strokes for different folks.

Sounds like your one of those that prefers the default settings. Settings, Prefernces, Restore Global settings. Read the warning and have your registration codes - just in case.
Yes, I thought of doing a restore defaults – but I was afraid I had changed other settings that I wouldn’t remember!
I think this has to do with the docking of windows/boxes. Right click on the Title bar and check or uncheck the docking of the window. I’m not sure which is the correct setting - I think you want it unchecked. Lets us know if this works.

it sounds like “map” is the navigator and it got pulled to the side by accident. you should be able undock the navigator and drag it back to the top and redock and that should fix it.
to see if thats the problem disable navigator in view menu, and reenable it to see where it pops up.
OK; so I tried a bunch of changes – docking and un-docking the ‘Track Properties’ window, but still couldn’t get the ‘Track Properties’ window to reflect the settings of the selected track automatically. So, I gave up and re-set the defaults, getting the result I wanted.
But, I still have no idea what setting needed to be changed …
Thanks for all your suggestions. (Yes, what I’ve been referring to as the ‘map’ is, indeed, the Navigator.)
BTW, I’ve also never understood why the compressor in the Track Properties display never shows the settings that I’ve actually made for the compressor on that track.
Cheers.
OK – I finally figured it out!
Under the VIEW menu, I had to select ‘Timeline Track Mixer.’
Then, once I clicked on the ‘Track Properties’ icon (the EQ/frequency display) on that mixer, which appeared just to the left of the tracks, the EQ/frequency display and Compressor appeared just to the right of the tracks – and displays the properties of the selected track, even when the selection is changed.
Voila!
