And make sure you turn off the dryer!

 What? Am I soundin bossy or somthin? Sorry Ange, just trying to give ya some reminders. It isn't anyting you don't already know. Regardless, good luck. :agree:

lol - I have actually heard clothes dryer sounds on home recordings Levi.

Hi Levi and All:

I think these places are still out there…
These old Die-Hard Guys and their studios…
A computer is just not a machine for making music with…
That Sun Studio in Memphis recorded every instrument in one take till they got it right…
all grouped around one-or-two mics…
You know, that wasn’t much more than 50 years ago…
Les Paul changed all that…
Then there was that RCA Studio “B” in Nashville…
Yea know…
Ya never got in there unless you deserved to and paid your dues…
and all…
The stories I heard of that place would frighten you…
However, it set standards of the Music Industry that still stands…
Then…
There was the MoTown Place in Detroit… Then, there came a time when studios specialized in recording tracks…
If you needed a Harp track you took your 2" tape up-the-street to the HARP Studio The if you need a Fiddle Track you took your 2" Tape Down the street and so-on till you got your project done…
I believe all that was done that way because different places generated acoustic properties that couldn’t be copied…
in the same room(s)…
Some of those projects still stand the Test-of-Time…
AND
Now with all this computer stuff all you do is send your track data up-and-down the street… till you got it the way you want it…
What a way to go…
:)
:p
Well…

It’s pretty hard to send Hamburger wrappers and bubblegum patches

AND…
You Know
… through the Internet…
However, they’re working on that…
I believe that tracks without plug-ins are still superior
to tracks with them…
In the '60’s and '70’s here in Halifax the CBC had this EMT Plate reverb…
They set it up in the basement of one studio… However, they had several studios in the area…
The way all the studio guys got to use it was to patch into the patch bay and send their signals through the telephone lines…
You know where that EMT Plate is now ?

In the land-fill site…
It’s such a waste…

Bill…

Bill, you know I have paid homage to the Sun room and the Motown room - and even the reconstructed Stax room, FWIW - it was really amazing, walking into Sun the first time - the room sounds exactly like the records - gave me chills - as close to a religious experience as I think I’ve ever had - when the tour was over I walked around in the room clapping my hands, jingling keys, standing where the mics were placed…Motown was cool, and everyone should give them a visit if possible, but not quite the same…

The experience at Sun also brought home the deep truth that a good sounding room matters.

Bill..

:D That's right Bill. Elvis did 65 takes for Heartbreak Hotel!
I would say the band was getting pretty tight by take 5! And they all knew their parts by take 20 lol
I believe in Les Paul! Every time I record and wonder; can I do this? I think of Les Paul!

I remember…
You guys all met at the hamburger joint somewhere in Detroit…
then off you went to the MoTown Studio with your cameras and all…
You guys didn’t know it…
I was pretty close to meeting’ you all there…
If I could have got the time off work I would have been there…
sigh

[EDIT]
Thanks for posting those photos up for me…
They were great…
However, I don’t think I have them anymore…
I have way too many drives hanging around they could be on any one of them ???
It would take me years to look for them…
sigh

Anyway, Paul McCartney is doing a Stage rehearsal right now over at the Commons in Center Halifax…
The forecast is predicting the weather to be prefect for tomorrow night…
They’re coming in from everywhere to see this stage…
I’ve heard…They are gonna do a first rate
multi/multi camera video of the concert…
Who knows when-or-where it will AiR.
????
As well, there will be two opening Local Stages to open the concert…
What a break for these guys…

Do a google for the name Joel Plaskett…
He’s one opener…

Maybe, one day if I find I don’t have to work to pay the government what they say I owe them, I’ll jump in the car and go visit these shrines…
Wouldn’t that be nice … :p
:)

Bill…

[EDIT 2] I found some google links to Jole Plaskett This guy is gonna get a lot of visibility this weekend…

http://www.joelplaskett.com/

:)

congratulations ange,

you are an inspiration

Thanks phoo:

I realize this is somewhat off topic… for this discussion thread…
However, it points to how breaks in the entertainment-and-music industry can push young careers along…

Ange…
When you organize to do your Canadian Tour consider to stage your Halifax Concert at the Rececca Cohenn Audatorium…
I be there if your ticket prices aren’t too high…
hehe…

Of course, you have to work in the music business for twenty years to get discovered, these days…

What a break for that Plaskett stage…
His style doesn’t encroach on the McCartney stage and what the ticket buyers are there to see…
What a great marketing ploy…
on the part of the McCartney organizers and all…
