EMj 0404 Card

a clock was off somewhere… Beats me? So how did the stimulus package work seein’s how you’re in the future?

Lets hope they don’t get the time machine and come back and whoop our butts.

Hmm somethings awry there!

E-Mu’s clocking fine with other apps?

Weird.

How old did Poppa W look in the future? (Did I hear “geezer” in another thread?)

Well, the stimulus package worked – everybody gets to keep their homes but only if there’s a working copy of n-Track on the premesis. In the future, I am homeless.

Yup, E-Mu is fine with everything else. Yaz, what’s the lowest latency setting you can manage on your 0404? After recording a single track (no FX) & playing back, I was hearing pops/clicks/gurgles at 10ms. I can easily set it to 4ms in Fruity Loops and CuBase so yes, something is weird.

P.S. Buy stock in Tralfamador Inc.

Just trust me.

10ms is about the best I can get the 0404 to run in nTrack and the other software I use (Reaper).

I have a project in ntrack with 15 tracks and no effects down to 7ms, but after any effects I have to increase it to 10ms.
I’m running 4 gigs of ram also with a duo core, haven’t tried checking latency with any of the free software that came with the 0404.
I don’t even have any of it installed anymore, learning more software after the 2 proggies I already know just wasn’t an option for my feeble ol’ brain!
Plus I found myself spending all my time chasing software and no time recording. :disagree:

I was just going to say “Tell me about it! (no time for recording)” when the forum crashed …

Ooops an error has occurred
IkonForums has exited with the following error:

Now I can’t get Back to the Future 'cause my paths have been removed.
SHEESH!

Hi.
A few years back I had a somewhat similar experience with an E-mu 1820-card. Seriously unstable there for a while.

Getting my head around E-mu’s software controlled mixer and the appropriate adjustmenst in n-Track was a challenge also, especially because things would crash anyway.

But things got way better with new releases of n and the E-mu drivers were upgraded, too. Flavio was quite helpful.

That was with XP. Anyway, since you are using Vista, I was thinking there might be some newer unsolved compability issues involved. Bugs, that is.

I.T.

I was reluctant to go over to The Dark Side (Vista) but so far things have been pretty stable. All my other software is happy with it. Are there known issues with Vista/n-Track?

Had problems with Vista x32 but have since gone to x64 machine and no problems. Plus I got the machine streamlined for audio, all crap turned off.

Just a note on the inputs (confirmed by E-Mu Bruce) that the mono asio strips in Patchmix are each still viewed as stereo. But nTrack doesn’t read the left inputs for some reason, just the right side, thus causing the distorted sound when recording. Work around is using the stereo strips. This isn’t a Vista issue, only have this problem with ntrack.

I’m tempted to install n on my old eMachine (the one still using XP & the ole Audigy card) but the whole point of my upgrading was to use the faster, stronger, better(?) Vista & a snappy new sound card. My really old CuBase gets along OK with Vista & Emu but being a 4-tracker from way back, I always like keep things simple & also to support the little guy so n appealed to me.

Oh well, keep pluggin’ at it I guess. (Stoopid manuals!

P.S. to Yaz: I finally got around to clicking on Yaz Toons – nice job on Ocean Girl. While I’m a vocally-challenged instrumentalist, I appreciate harmonies. Well done! Good mix too :)
