What/How? NotSoEZDrummerHere
If you add EZdrummer as an instrument track fed from a midi track you get something like
the image below.
Synth thru Synth-8
Is there a doc or thread that explains what this really means? Or can some explain now?
I have done some playin around, and only if you mute channel synth-6 does it seem to cut
off the drums, I would have thought mute of synth (-1) would have.
So I have no idea
what is going on here.
I would like to record each track (each drum, each mic) from EZdrummer to its own n-track
track.
Anyone been able to do this from within n-track?
Ahhhh pingcat?
Wheres the image you said would be below?
Too much catnip?
OK, there it is. . . .
Are you making the patterns yourself out of nDrummer or some other prog?
If so as far as I know you have to do the individual eqing per track in the creator program, and then import as one big midi clump.
You surtaintly can’t import individual tracks of beats from EZ I woudn’t think.
You can’t from Addictive but who knows it will be interesting if you can.
I think that would take EZd to a whole new level.
Look for future stocks of Ez’drummer.
I’ve found that I can only solo and mute a midi track from the mixer view of the track where it shows the inst in the effects window. I don’t know if this helps answer any of your questions but I enjoyed typing all this stuff.
I suppose you could import one drum per midi file on diffrent tracks and add the inst on that track to play only that inst but that sounds like a BIG bunch of work.

Okay... EZD is (or CAN BE) a multi-output VSTi "instrument" right? Two things have to happen to make this work and n tries to do one of them for you. It creates all the "Synth Tracks" for you in the mixer view. That's cool I guess... You still have to open the mixer panel in EZD and "explain" to EZD that you want it to output multiple audio streams. You do this by clicking one of the output labels below the fader. Choose Multi-Out or whatever it says... I don't have it in front of me at the moment... sorry. Now you can accept the EZD default assignments or change them to your own. I.E. Kick = 1, Snare Top =2, Snare Btm = 3 etc...
You have to drag and drop your EZD "groove clips" to the MIDI track with EZD inserted on it right? (Good luck with the drag and drop thing... n kinda sux at that...)
Hope that helps. It should getcha started anywho...

PS Gadzooks! This would be TONS easier if n had 'Track Templates' like another DAW or twelve that I know of... One click... BANG! EZD is setup, routed and ready to go... Maybe someday...
PPS I wish I could post a screen shot of an EZD setup in n for you... but I can't. Maybe Poppa Willis can flog up a screenie for you? I gave up on EZD and n-Track shortly before I gave up on n-Track altogether...

Uh oh… my financier (aka, friend with more money than sense who has been feeding my soft synth habit) just got Superior and EZD with a zillion add ons. Are you saying it is crap?
Are you saying it is crap?
NO!!! It's a PITA in n-Track. It works fabulous in 'R'. (And everything else...)

EZD is awesome IMO.

Setting up EZD in Reaper takes two clicks to a multi channel set up - this is why I do my drums in R. For over a year midi clip drag and drop was goofed up in n - I could not wait. I suggest you find something with a friendlier interface.
Superior and EZDrummer are true to their names.
Yessir. In ‘R’ take about two minutes to setup a Track Template to your liking and any time you want to start something anew with Superior or EZD, pick your template… setup == DONE.

So far I think it is good. I just have EZDrummer, not the fancy “Superior”.
But the sounds are good, and they have some good starting point kits and
grooves to get you going quickly.
I know there are ways using things besides n-track to break down the individual
drums and room mics to their own tracks, then import the tracks to n-track.
I’m trying to see if there is a way to do it all in n-track.
I need to learn more about this multi-output VSTi “instrument” idea. Because,
yes, there is a mixer built into EZDrummer that lets you multitrack each
drum/mic.
I’ll try to get an n-Track template done that will show the multi-channel routing for you.
Thanks Poppa.
I see no way to build multi channel routing to give each out it’s own ‘track’… this would be a nice feature request - true multi-channel routing to tracks. The way it is now is workable for staying midi, but to mixdown each channel to wav is another thing entirely, which some folks like to do.
I just tried a work around by soloing the two snare tracks and mixing down to wav. This works well. If you solo what you want to have on a track (each drum) the mixdown to wav. After the mixdown the new file will appear in an open Windows window - just drag it to a new track within n-Track - handy feature.
So that’s the work around until Flavio can put in a one click choice to “mixdown each channel to new track” or whatever… naming each synth channel would be nice too. Kick, Top Snare, Bottom Snare, Hat - etc. You can do that now that I tinkered a bit.
Let me know how it goes.
What I would suggest pingcat - is to take a current sng file with EZD in it and rename it and save as ntrack/ezd/templates/template1.sng
Or wherever… the strip it of all the other tracks down to EZD only - save again. Then you will have a template1.sng saved to start your other tunes with. Tweak the template with track/channel names until you’re comfy with it.

in the advanced options in the mixdown menu, you can actually import the rendered tracks automatically into n,
Thanks Poppa, you know your way around this stuff!
I will give that a try.
Meanwhile I am reading up on this VSTi stuff.

Dig, I have spent the better part of the evening shuffling all 5 DVDs.... so hopefully it is worth it. Now if I could just produce a song someone would actually want to listen to....

Visit "Resources" over at the 'you know where' forums to get templates for EZD and possibly Superior as well. Time savers...

Cool. I am not worried about the setup much. More the song writing. And I was wrong, 7 DVDs?! I have been loading Superior for like 3 hours now. Eesh. Though, it is very nice to have a financier, so I won’t complain. I have been given more software in the past 2 months than I have bought in 10 years time.
