I have a few feature suggestions and usability improvements for the Android version of n-Track Studio’s EQ that would significantly improve the mobile mixing experience:
-
Pinch-to-Zoom Gesture for Q-Factor: Adjusting the EQ Q-factor (bandwidth) on touchscreens can be a bit tedious. Implementing an intuitive two-finger pinch gesture (pinching together to widen the band / spreading apart to narrow it) directly on an EQ node would make fine-tuning frequencies much faster and more touch-friendly.
-
Frequency Grid Lines on EQ Visualizer: Adding clear, subtle frequency grid lines (e.g., 20 Hz, 100 Hz, 1 kHz, 10 kHz) and dB level markers across the visualizer background would provide a reliable visual reference. This helps quickly pinpoint exact frequencies and make precise adjustments without guessing.
-
Low-Cut Filter Anchor Stability: When adjusting or enabling the Low-Cut (High-Pass) filter, the main baseline curve currently moves or pulls down the entire frequency response instead of remaining fixed at 0 dB for the unaffected frequencies. Keeping the baseline anchored properly during low-cut adjustments would prevent unintentional gain drops across the rest of the spectrum.
These improvements would bring the Android EQ workflow much closer to desktop DAW standards. Thank you for your continued hard work!
Thanks for the suggestions. We’ll definitely be implementing the pinch gesture for the Q.
As for the frequency grid lines, I’m not sure of what you mean, there should already be frequency grid lines, how would you exactly change them?
As for the high pass filter type, do you mean that the band gain should be locked at 0db? Currently you can move the band both horizontally (i.e. set the cutoff frequency) and vertically (change the gain).
Flavio.
Thanks for the update, Flavio! Great to hear about the pinch gesture for the Q control.
Regarding my points about the frequency grid and filter type, let me clarify:
When I moved my entire workflow from PC to tablet, my biggest concern was whether I could get the response and precision I was used to with FabFilter Pro-Q. The n-Track EQ completely proved my worries wrong—it is fantastic! In fact, the way it responds to adjustments feels even clearer and more precise than Pro-Q.
What I meant regarding the interface/grid is having direct numerical feedback right where I’m working:
Numerical Frequency & Gain Readout: Seeing the exact frequency (Hz/kHz) and the exact gain change (+/- dB) as a visual readout directly over or around the band/node while dragging it, rather than just relying on the background grid.
Locked High-Pass Filter Gain: Yes, for a standard High-Pass (and Low-Pass) filter, locking the gain at 0 dB (so vertical movement only changes the slope/Q or is disabled, while horizontal movement adjusts the cutoff frequency) would make managing cut filters much faster and cleaner.
Thanks again for being so responsive and for building such an awesome tool!
