Enjoy your prize Mr. Gump! :D

I have been to Willimsburg probably 5 times. Me, the cooper, the tin smith, and the town crier are tight, yo! Actually, Williamsburg is where I got my initial introduction to drums. I saw those colonial drum lines and was fascinated.

Is that how it they talk in Colonial Williamsburg these days?

Allright, as long as you guys want to learn about offbeat professions, our family name comes the profession of an ancestor: the spademan. Any guesses? :)

:D NOOO! It stinks in there!

D

Nope, not grave diggers.

You can find the answer in the OED if you have one. A search on the electronic version of the OED will uncover a couple of quotes from the Rev. John Spademan from about 300 years ago, and then one reference to a job from about the same era. Hint: it has something to do with the sea.

Bet it's something fishy

Well, no, actually it has to do with a marine mammal…

My guess was along the line of Kramer=A*s*s*man

Kingfish

Ask the Fish

Oddly enough, My father was a pointer on a destroyer just post WWII, and not a spademan!

The 2nd guess is correct. You win a genuine free Nady Star Power 1 microphone, just sent me 15 dollars shipping and handling!

Also, as far as we know, Jean Spademan is only a very distant relative.
:)

Back to the topic: I want the mic and preamp that Bruce Springsteen used in the Seeger recordings.
:D

I’m flattered, but note that if nominated, I will not run; if elected, I will not serve; and if forced into office, it will be kicking and screaming! Plus, I’d no doubt screw things up even worse than the current administration (if that can be imagined). However, I would not shoot anyone, especially hunting partners. So maybe I am more qualified …

Hmm, learjeff, shades of Walt Kelly - you may be just the sort of candidate we need. :)
