help using sfz

Hey all;

I haven’t used sfz in a while and I can’t seem to get it working again. I went through the tutorial at Audiominds, and have done everything there, but still no sound. I’m using:

Win2K
Echo MIA
Athlon 950 on ECS K7S5A mobo
384 Megs RAM

I also have an Ensoniq AudioPCI as a 2nd sound card, but MIDI is not supported in WIn 2K. Do you have to have a MIDI capable card to use sfz?

Thanks

No! A VSTi doesn't rely on the sound card at all. Explain exactly how you are trying to set up SFZ and I can probably help you. The first thing to check is that you actually have a SoundFont loaded. The second thing to look at is to be sure your MIDI track is set correctly... is it set to the right channel, bank, patch, and MIDI output device? Also, is the level on the MIDI track turned up? Are there any CC11 or CC7 events getting in the way?

I didn’t think so.

Anyway, you mentioned making sure I had a SoundFont loaded, and that got me thinking, maybe the soundfont itself is the problem. Sure enough it is. I loaded different SoundFonts and they work fine.

Thanks
