Been absent…
Hey - life is crazy, and my songwriting has suffered, but amongst the awful tunes this one sort of appeared somehow, and it is timely, so…
The Broker’s Lament:

When Freddie and Fannie forgot protection!! The lyrics are brilliant! I shouldn’t laugh but it’s funny.
The buzzy strings might distract a little but hey the song’s for fun right?
I love it, got any more awful tunes?
Yes, absolutely dreadful. If your songwriting gets any worse, I don’t know what we’re gonna do.
I doubt many brokers are lamenting for anyone other than themselves. So I’m torn between liking your song and some dark inner desire to see all brokers tossed in a single pile to pay horrifically for what the few have done.
I see the lament differently. More like “Ah crap, now I’m gonna have to cut back to one Gold Card - may have to actually sell one of my 4 collector cars. Cut my weekends in the mountains back to 2 a month. Quit seeing Bimbo #6 and 8,…”
Oh, no coubt, Poppa, you have it right, no doubt. Lessee - AIG gets some BILLIONS and then they go get 400,000 worth of quality vacation time for the high-ups. I am rarely moved to swear, but gosh darn it, that’s my fricking money.
OK< now you got me angry.
i don’t get why your torn, pops. liking the song and wishing ill on those that profit off of all of us are hardly mutually exclusive. if so, then i’m breaking (one more) law of nature.
like the song!
I like the song. I just don’t like what I think win I spend my limited grey matter neuron firing on bulldozing brokers into a huge gasoline saturated pile and striking a match. Bonfire of the brokers.
I wrote a couple songs about “Big-wig tight ass fools” and speculators in “Oil Kings”. I’ll try to get them up for a laugh or too. Just waiting for some headphone advice.

If you can make a video anywhere near as clever as the song and put it on youtube, you’ll have a hit.

Hey Nixon, the buzzing is a feature - I meant to say that before.
You Betcha!
Yea - meant to say I liked the recording too - on top of liking the song. Sometimes when I hear songs I just hear songs, and not recordings. I always hear your songs. Make sense?
Well…I think it makes sense, but then again aging makes us make some things make sense that really don’t, so I dunno.
I posted two others I did in the last couple of weeks, just because I like them, even if they suck.
“Shout Out Everywhere” and “It’s a Mad Mad Mad Town”:

Mad Mad sounds like some Phish bootlegs my son played for me.
Shout Out song was great too. You write the most familiar yet unexpected ‘signature’ licks around. Great work Tom.
Any new news on “Death’s Door” ?
Cool laid back tune there Tom, nice loose feel to it…which contradicts the message…
As ever, great great stuff.
I love it. Yet again.
I’ll have a look at the new additions tomorrow.
Good tune Tom, snare gets a
My ears are pretty much fried right now from this sinus mess, will listen some more later.

News on Death's Door - nope, just moving ahead.
Thanks for listening folks!

Branch out Tom. Find some new tones and direction. It’s all starting to sound the same…
Constructive 2 cents worth…

How true.
Point taken.

Although, to be fair to me, I've shown some variation over long periods of time.
Thing is, like most folks, I get stuck on an idea or sound and mess around with it until the next thing comes, and then I'm in that rut.
One way to avoid this is to write a lot and only let people hear a few things.
Another is to buy lots of instruments and start doing a sitar period, then a theremin, then a whatever period. Or change DAW for a different approach.
Best thing would to be to get some other folks to play with, but life isn't like that right now.
But I think you should not be dubious, but rather skeptical anyway.

I hear you Tom. Believe me, I am not being critical in a bad way...
I've been stuck in a rut for a looonggg time...
Skeptical? Nah... tried that and cynicism too. When it comes to this proggie, Dubious is a better fit for me.

Keep cranking 'em out Tom. You've got mad writing skills I wish I had.
