That laptop ain’t cheap… However, it looks like it’s pretty respectable…
Could there be better value for the investment ????

Well, 800mhz FSB, 5400 RPM drive, only 2.2 ghz but it is a dual core with Win 7. It comes preloaded with bloat wear, wouldn't be my first choice, however, I would take out the drive get a 7200 RPM, and reformat it, installing only the essential items. The wireless lan will need to be disabled when you use it. It should be ok.

Try to find a laptop, with a 1066mhz FSB and 7200rpm drives, this would be better.

PACO

If the video that shows it is correct, they have replaced the drive with a 7200 rpm one…
and it appears that the Operating System is setup with a 64-bit resolution…
You’re right…
I’d say going to the next level would be the better way to go…
BUT… It would take more money to get me there…

Maybe, I should consider going to that level…

Bill…

This could be the machine… ??? :)

This might be the one…

Bill…

Hi, Bill. Are you getting a craptop to record with, or just for general use?

Hi TonyR:

This machine may be for anything that is is-and-around the operation…
If I go on the road I may need something to keep in touch with life around home…
The reviews on the 1,000.00 one points to the speakers as being somewhat above the average…
I’m gonna look at the 1,200.00 one… We’ll see…
To be practicable, it might be nice to have a laptop with the capability to track-and-edit and transfer tracks and all…

Yes, that one would be good. I think the price is good too.

I paid $1400.00 CND for mine with similar specs.
I've also done some basic testing with Win 7 on mine. I've run my Line6 UX2 and Guitar Rig 4 on it, just some quick testing and found the "latency was better" under Win 7-64bit vs XP-32bit and Vista 32bit, meaning I can run lower buffers with these devices.

Hi Paco572:

Thank you for the reply…
Laptops must be more pricey than I thought…
However, this 1200.00 one may be the machine I should look into…
Then again, after the Christmas buying season, may be the time to consider the investment…

I’m in the middle of outfitting the new Ranger I got a couple of weeks ago… I’m having so much fun with it…
It fits me like a glove…
:)
:p

I threw my credit out the window…

Bill…

[EDIT] OoHh Yea… I’m taking donations for the payments… Any Takers ????

“RANGER”?

That’s what that model Ford pickup is called over here…
Too small for contractors to put to work…
But, big enough for me to run around in…
It snowed over the weekend, so it’s sittin in the driveway, covered in snow-and-ice…
I got wheels and tires ordered for it for winter driving…
I was gonna go Wednesday morning and get them installed, however, I have other things planned…
Maybe, it’ll rain and wash the snow and ice away…
We’ll see…
I still gotta get the tires installed, though…

Bill…

One thing with laptops: if you are gonna use it for making music, noise is something to consider. I wouldn’t buy a laptop without “hearing” it first…

Nice looking ride, BTW.

I:-T

Good point, IT.

AaHh…

I’ll pay good attention to that Point…
The 950.00 notebook reviews rate the audio as being acceptable-to-good…
I don’t know about the audio on the 1200.00 Lap top/version…
I’ll check…
Boy…
there’s so much to consider when in the market for these things… However, if there’s an audio line out on the laptop, then the system you connect it to may very well be an alternative to the built-in audio and speaker system…

Poppa Willis used/uses a pair of ear buds with his laptop setup…
Is that correct????

Bill…

I got a set of wheels-and-tires today for the winter weather we get around here…
Wheels-Rubber-and-Labour came in just under 800.00 CDN… The ride is O.K.
The Rubber is a little noisy running down the road… That’s not un-normal…

We’ll see how they preform…
The forecast is for some more snow, tomorrow…

Bill…

Bill. Chains on my transit Combi. Grit and a shovel in the back:-)

I think I going to where people ask… ???

What’s that shovel doing in your trunk…
:)
:p
???
Then I’ll put my clamers on and use the shovel and a bucket and get me a bucket of clams… Then… sit back and take life… EaSY…
