deleting entire sections of a song
I have 3 seconds of dead space at the beginning of my song.
Is there a way to delete some of that dead space without manually moving all of my tracks back toward the beginning of the timeline?
If you don’t have that many tracks - just click and drag over the space to cut down all tracks and use the scissor icon. That way you can move them all to the left and they’ll be in time with each other. If you have a lot of tracks I would suggest mixing it first then cut it as a wav file and save it or covert it then. that’s the way I do it - I always leave 2 seconds of silence before signal.
Right click on image above and choose ‘view image’ to see it bigger.
Doing a mixdown then a master mix is simplest way, like Poppa said you can edit the single stereo wave easier. Plus doing fade ins and outs are simpler.
Poppa how are you doing all those screen shots? A PC challenged idiot(me) wants to know?

There’s a button on the keyboard that will capture your screen image. Hold the Shift key then press Prnt Scrn
Then just paste it into an image program and save it.
Dr Wabbitt has a great collection on line too.
Sorry bout hijacking the thread Mycole,
I know how to capture the screen Poppa, how do ya get the arrows and writing and such, what are you using?
thanks. Yeah, I have over 30 tracks w/ multiple parts on many of the tracks so I will opt option B.
Another way of looking at that issue is to ignore the blank space at the beginning. It has the benefit when adding tracks to prepare yourself (and listen to the count in if you have that). The only time when the blank space is the issue is when rendering the song. I just add markers at the beginning and end of the song, then highlight between the markers and use the From feature of the rendering process.
Yeah that… ^^^ or save it for mastering in your two track app.
Also consider the silence as a Zen-like state… you know, “One-hand clapping” and all that other bovine droppings kind of stuff… OR, OR… go ahead and put a two-beep in there in anticipation of all the radio play you’re gonna get!

PS Can you tell I am at work and soooo freakin’ bored…

Yaz,
I just paste the screen cap in MS Windows Paint and start wacking.
The other thing you'll need is online storage someplace. I use http://www.photobucket.com but there others just as FREE and do a good job.
You'll then paste a link to the source file in your post here... sort of like;

**Delete the spaces inside the "IMG" brackets**
The forum software has the handy little "Image" button there as well. Try it out. It's pretty straightforward.

I’m using photoshop Yaz.
Okay… fess up. How many of you tried to go find the “diogenesnaked.jpg”?
Pervs… LOL…

at the right hand base of the track you will see a CROSS click om the cross and drag track to the right - when away from timeline start, above gross in centre of track is a HANDLE click on handle drag to the right - when silence has dissapeared, use cross to put track back in place - mixdown and track will be new sixe
