How to bounce a track to start from the beginning

Would this work - because you have not recorded the track yet,
Create a blank track
Move the cursor to where you want to start recording
Arm the track and record and/or punch in to add the sound to the new full length track track.
That should create a full length sound file witht eh new part where you want it.

It seems that doesn't work either. "Add new track" > "audio" makes a blank track without a wave file and recording on that track makes a track like recording on new track.

Or maybe there's something I didn't undestand in your idea.

But maybe if I create a silent 6 minute wav file and imported that before making a shorter overdub over it. Then bouncing hem would make a full length track?

But no, there should be a simple feature for this in N-track.

Solo the track and do a mixdown from the beginning of the song of just that track. You end up with silence in the mixed wave until the guitar plays.

There a many ways to do this.

Yup. Sorted, Phoo-style.
For this money? n-T rocks.

OK - First you know you can just move the part of the ‘solo’ track
to the beggining (1:1:1)

Now select that track and right/click on it and at the bottom select ‘Create
Wave File Region’

Now drag from end of song across to the left, over the
part you have just moved to the beginning of the track

- So it should all be greyed over
from the start of the track to the end of the song.

Now when you go to mixdown in the FILE menu - make sure you have the MORE OPTIONS
selected and under INTERVAL
check
FROM and it should show the end as being
the end of the song. When you mix this down you will have silence after the
part until the end of the song. Like this

Is that what you had in mind?
Or did you want the blank space before the ‘solo’ as well?
Because you can do the same thing, leaving the part in the
position it was recorded, and then the wav file will be saved with
silence before, and after the part, til the end of the song.

Like this:

Highlight your guitar solo.
That will create start and end locations for the mixdown. ( You can make that as precise as you want by zooming in)
Then choose mixdown song from the file menu.

In the mixdown dialog box click start from and to, should show the area that you highlighted on the track.
You’ll see a list of tracks to be recorded on the right of the dialog box, click on the track with the solo (it will hightlight here to)
Also make sure on the mixdown dialog box you choose to dither.
Click mixdown and name your Solo.
Then import your wav consisting of only the solo

I think this seems like the most "no hassle" solution. Thanks! Gonna try it after I've done my time in the office.
