The problem is that the republicans have been crying wolf for so long that no one wants to hear it. What I mean is that the republicans have been making mountains out of molehills for so long (The Clinton BJ scandal, the Kerry Vietnam record scandal, the various Hillery and Bill scandals, etc…etc…) that the american public has grown weary of scandals and is unwilling to listen to real wrongdoing. I can think of no group of people that have done more harm to american national security and to the american morale than the current administration in washington. They have helped the cause of terrorism more than the terrorists could have wished for.

Impeached? He and his cronies should be run out of washington on a rail. :(

Surprise, surprise. Of course, many of us knew this all along. All you had to do was watch Colin Powell’s UN presentation & know something about what he was talking about, to know that the whole thing was shakey.

Please don’t impeach GW!!!

Who would fill his position? You don’t want Cheney do ya?

Leaving these guys where they are is an asset to the Dems. They are the living model of the GOP machine and as such provide limitless ammunition for Dem and Indie candidates in 2006 and 2008. We need the change in the Senate and House to be effective.

The thing is, this really is the smoking gun. Levin has more integrity than anyone in the Senate. We’d get Cheney, perhaps, for a couple of years, but so what - he wouldn’t be effectual. In any case it is the right thing to do. If anything counts as a high crime and misdemeanor, this does, and if it is not prosecuted it sets a bad precedent. :)

Interestingly enough, although I know what “impeach” means, the first association the word gives me is always “impale”…

Not that I’d recommeng impaling as a cure for (my or your) society’s ills. ???

Impeach makes me think about pies personaly.

Old-Fashioned Peach Cobbler

# 8 cups fresh peaches, sliced and peeled
# 2 cups sugar
# 1/4 cup flour
# 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
# 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
# 1/3 cup butter, melted
# Pastry for double-crust pie

Preheat oven to 475°F.

Combine the peaches, sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg in a Dutch oven. Allow to set until sugar is dissolved and a syrup forms. Over medium heat, bring the peach mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cook until tender, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in melted butter. Set aside and keep warm.

Roll out half the pastry as for a pie, but cut it into an 8-inch square. Spoon half the peach mixture into a lightly buttered 8-inch square Pyrex dish. Cover with the pastry square. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove from oven and spoon remaining peach mixture over the baked pastry.

Roll out the remaining pastry, and cut into strips about an inch wide. Arrange strips in a loose lattice weave over the peach mixture. Sprinkle lightly with granulated sugar, if desired. Bake an additional 15 to 20 minutes or until browned.

Fresh peach crisp recipe is a delicious dessert with cinnamon and whipped topping or ice cream.

INGREDIENTS:

* 2 1/2 pounds fresh peaches, peeled, pitted
* 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
* 1 cup sugar
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
* 1/2 cup soft butter

PREPARATION:
Butter an 8-inch square baking dish. Preheat oven to 375°.
Slice peeled, pitted peaches into the prepared baking dish. Sift together the flour, sugar, salt and cinnamon into a medium bowl. Cut butter into flour mixture with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Sprinkle crumbs evenly over peaches in baking dish. Bake at 375° for 45 to 50 minutes, until topping is golden brown and peaches are tender. Serve peach crisp warm with cream or whipped topping.

Home made fried peach pies… boy I miss my Grandmother! :(

notbeing from the south, I fear my knowledge of all things peach falls short…

Well, that graphic is your standard, run of the mill peach pie. I ain’t found a pic of Granmaws fried peach pies… yet…

Basically, you make up your dough just like you would for a regular pie crust. Then you flatten it out and shape it into circles about 8 inches in diameter. Spoon your peach filling (made similar to your pie recipe) onto one half, then fold the other half over. Pinch the edges to seal in the yummy stuff. Now you plop liberal amounts of butter into a hot skillet and FRY the thing. Mmmmm…mmmm… GOOD! Kinda like a “Peach Hot Pocket”. :D Anyway, a couple of those and a big ol’ glass of COLD moo juice… almost heaven man.
