is it possible?

ability to select external wave editors

I use soundforge and wavelab depending on how I am trying to manipulate a wave file (I know I could possibly do everything with soundforge but I also like wavelabs abilities). At the present I have soundforge set up as the default. Is it possble to be able to select between editors within Ntrack without having to reset the default each time? It would be nice to be able to easily bounce between the two.

As far as I know, you can only choose one within n-Track’s preferences.

I suppose you could write a batch file or exe which prompts for, and then opens, the appropriate editor. Then n-track could be configured to open that batch file instead.

I tend to use several editors but I add the shortcuts to the “send to” menu instead.

Hi All:
Sometime back in v2 or so, I made a request on the Board, somewhere, if Flavio could add something to that area of n-Track… the ability to add and then be able to choose more than one External Editor to the preferences… That would be nice for those guys who use several Editors… within n-Track… Instead of selecting just one editor, you would have a choice of selecting which editor, to launch… with-in n-Track…

Would something like that be a Big TO-DO, to add that to the Prefs?

Bill…

If making a batch file is so easy (mark), perhaps someone (mark) could make it for those of us who might like this feature…

I’m a bit maxed out ot the moment but I’ll give it a go when I get a few moments.

I have a external utility for cubase that also works with n-Track. You must set it in your external wave editor path. It allows you to select a default wave editor, or launch a list of wave editors pressing “shift” while selecting launch editor in n-Track.
I cant remember the exact name of this freebie tool, i will look at house. It

I don't know if that will work, as N-Track passes the wav file directly to the program it opens. If you could seemlesly pass that file along I'd be mightily impressed.

Only way to do it (my opinion) is with an app like Marce discribed : Look like an external editor, accept the wave data and then ask you where you want to pass it to ?
Maybe a programmer (Mark) can do something like that ?

Just wondering ...

Oh well, can’t even get n to run a batch file…

please make a post if you find it. In fact I will do a little searching online myself. :)

Im going to house now, in two hours i will answer you… :)

OK, the utility is called Cub2for3 and you can download it here:

http://imaps.free.fr/docs/plugins/cub2for3.zip

There you can add how much wave editors you like. If you dont press anything, the default editor is launched. If you hold shift key, then appear a list where you can select. You must put “cub2for3” in the path of your audio editor under n-Track preferences

I just downloaded it- it took about 4 seconds on my old surf-buggy here. Gonna go try it, thanks, Marce!

You are the man!!!!! I searched all over for the program. Jumped back on the forum and you had the answer I was looking for. I have tested it with soundfourge and wavelab. It was very easy to set up also.

Thank You Very Much!!!!! :D

Marce, I’ve said it before, and I will say it still a couple of times, but here goes anyway:

You rock !

Thanks very much !

Cool. Now I don’t have to mess around with trying to create batch files/utility progs… not like I’ve got anything else do do, huh?

Thanks Marce
