Issues logging on

Is there a fix ?

Hi Gents:

A week-or-so ago this machine developed a “cookie” issue…
I got some Ad-Ware installed that I couldn’t remove…
Panda Security SCAN didn’t recognize/identify it either…
I wrote their support and they replied telling me how to remove the stuff over the Christmas Break…

However, all along the time this Ad-Ware was discovered, the n-Track Board log-in began to act quite different…
Does anyone see (other than me) that I’m on here all-the-time ?
When I browse the page and it opens, my Id is always on here…
However, when I open a topic to reply I am unable to reply till I log-on…
I used to have saved information where I could log on without having to type in my ID and Password…
That is not saved anymore by this machine…

Does anyone out there know how I can FIX this log-in issue ????

Bill…

Well you’re no “here” now Bill - about an hour after your original post.

Only suggestion I can make is to delete all of your cookies and temp internet files and hope the problem goes away. It might be best to logout of the forum first and close any pages that you have open here.

Or try a different browser.

Hi Mark A:

I just logged on after coming back from the coffee shop…
When the page opened I was not there this time…
I logged on to make this reply and all that seems O.K.
For-now…
We’ll see as it-goes…

Here’s a reply I got back from Pandasecurity…

Quote…
1. Restart the computer in safe mode:

- Restart the computer

- When the computer is starting up keep pressing F8

- When the boot options menu appears select Safe Mode without networking and press enter
1. Delete all temporary files

- Click Start -> Run

- Type “%userprofile%\local settings emp” (without the quotes) and press OK

- Delete everything in this folder
2. Perform a full scan once the computer is started

- Open Panda from the start menu

- Select full scan

- scan the entire computer

When I followed these steps there was nothing in the folder they referred to…
“local settings emp” (When I Browse)
The Panda application is lighting up every-so-often saying that it has identified Ad-Ware and that to completely remove it I should reboot my computer…
BUT…
that’s in the middle of me doing some browsing…
sigh…

:disagree:
Somehow, I must have already browsed that folder and removed some of those cookies…
Probably, some of the key ones along with some that I shouldn’t have…

I’d like to be able to retain/save the log-in cookies I used to have stored where I’d double click on the log-in field and it would automatically fill in the log-in spaces and I’d be logged in…

Bill…

I still don’t seem to be able to let 'Well Enough" alone…

[EDIT]
If I deleted the cookies saved by n-Track Board do you think I’d be doing untold damage that I don’t need to contend with.
??

[EDIT 2] I think I’d be shooting myself in the other foot if I switched to the Mozilla Browser… Me-and-Computers… We ain’t even on the same chapter, anymore…

A great piece of freeware I have been using a lot recently is Malwarebytes… cleans up a lot I find the AV programs can miss (and Panda is usually pretty dern good).

yep was going to suggest the same.

Hi Bubbagump and Poppa Willis:

The audio boards and guys that I run into around the internet
all appear to have good vibes regarding Pandasecurity…
I find it doesn’t take hold of your machine and get in the way, and all… Well, not like Norton used to do when I had that stuff installed…
I’m still getting these Panda pop-ups saying that I should reboot my machine if I want to remove the detected adware…
However, when I reboot the machine the adware is not removed…

I think I’m gonna reply to Pandasecurity again and see what I might be doing wrong that the detected adware is not being removed automatically…
It appears to be seeing the stuff as I browse…

I’m still waiting for a hi-speed connection to fall outta the Internet and land on my machine…
Maybe, that’s all that’s wrong with this thing…
:p

Bill…

[EDIT]
I downloaded that stuff from the link you posted… I’m gonna give it a go later today…

I’m reporting back with a comment on that Malware application…
I got a chance to run it on this P-111…
The Pandasecurity looked at and promptly shut the machine down… It don’t like any of that stuff running in it’s tracks…
:p
After a reboot, I opened it up again and this time it was off to the races…
At the end of the scan, it reported that there wasn’t any malware on this P-111…
SO…
I opened it up again and did a re-scan…
It reported that the machine was clean again…
Yet…
Panda wants me to re-boot in the middle of detecting Ad-Ware and just when I want to browse…
and all…
