It’s a pretty big file…
I have been able to open the video with Nero ShowTime… It wouldn’t open with Windows Media Player…
I don’t know why…
It would only play the audio…
It’s an HD resolution file…

I downloaded it from Bill's link and tried to upload it to youtube and received an email from youtube advising that it was banned by the Olympic Committee before it finished uploading.
I don't think you're gonna see this one on youtube anytime soon.

I tried to open it with Media Player build 11.0.6002.18111…
It will only play the audio from that file… on this machine I have…
It is an Intel Dual Processor E5200 that has 2 gig of ram…
It’s so outdated, it hurts… I’ve only had it for a year…
However, if I open it in NERO…
(I don’t know the build/version)
I’ll look…
Anyway upon opening the file,…
Nero calls home and asks for some kind of permission and loads some kind of a codec, then plays…

Wouldn’t show the video on this machine on WMP…
BUT just the audio plays…
Nero 9 plays the file …
looks to be perfect…
I even wrote the file to a DVD, just to see if Nero would write it…
Looks to be O.K. as well…
Anyway, we are forecast for bad weather/snow overnight…

You need to install the XviD codec - latest version is here.

Works like a charm…
I wonder why WMP didn’t prompt me to install that plugin/codec…
Maybe it did and I overlooked the prompt…
At the beginning of the file a blue screen appears and loads the codec…
It behaves the same in WMP as opening the file with Nero Showtime…
If it weren’t for you guys … I’d have the worse computer in the universe…

?No problem. And no, I don't think WMP would have prompted you to install that codec. XviD is a derivation of DivX (hence the backward name) and WMP thinks it is DivX so tries to play it with that - which is why you only get Audio. It's been that way since XviD came out. (Interestingly, XviD is backwards compatible so it will play DivX files - just not the other way around.)
As to Haiti - no idea. I think I mentioned on here that I was less than 100 kms away when the earthquake hit but had no idea what had happened in Haiti until I got back in my car in Toronto and turned on the radio.
