Key of this Song?

Hey long time no post guys…but I have been lurking, always lurking…

Anyway I was hoping someone could give me the key of this song, I have a female jazz singer wanting to sing it but have to refine it a bit and get a key first.

chord chart

Curious

Never mind my singing it is just a vocal reference so the singer would get the general melody idea.
I thought it was in G, but am thinking of changing the chords in the verse to match the chorus which would put it in a different key…just not sure what that key would be.
So I guess the real question is if I wanted to change the verse key to fit better with the chorus what would those chords be?

The way the chords are written it modulates, with lots of accidentals, I bet.
Why do you need a key? And why change it? (I haven’t listened to it yet.)

Yuk! Strumming it through. Dropping the chorus to G is horrible. F# is better-ish?

Nah, Jerm. Leave it as is.

Hey guys thanx for popping in,

I ended up changing the verses to E, G, A, Cb, Bb, and the rest just fell into place from there.

When she gets done singing it, and the rest of the parts are done will post in music section.

Hi Gents:

I presume that if you are attempting to get a female voice to be within some vocal range, it means transposing the chord structure…
It may mean raising-or-lowering the transpose “Key” by maybe a Fifth ???
Is that what it’s called ????

then if it is vocally close it might mean using a capo and raise it to the first-or-second position…
For example, if the melody were played with a guitar…
Is there a musical term for that explanation ?
I don’t know… I’m just a bass player.
Well…
sometimes…
:p

The girl will certainly let you know when the structure is within her range…

Bill…

thanx for the words bill

On a side note remember we were talking about guitars last time?

Hi jeremysdemo:

I see you up here…

I don’t know I only know that Godin is up here somewhere…
Musicstop when I was there didn’t carry Godin until close to the end of their days…
Then and now Musicstop is owned by Long and McQuade now…
Godin and other Manufacturers that wasn’t carried by Musicstop is now really big around here…
They (Godin) have some really great instruments …
AND…

they are hanging on the guitar room walls on all three of the local Long and McQuade shops around here…
The Shop (in Bedford) has some Godin Guitars that are So NiCe…
:)
:p

I’ll do a search on them (Godin) and find out where they are located…
They are probably out west, somewhere…
hehehe…
a couple thousand miles from here…
Anyway, I’ll get back, here…
When I was last at the Bedford Shop I was gonna take my camera and get some photo of the guitar they have hanging on the wall, out there…

A beautiful wall of instruments, they have there…
I know the Guitar Manager out there very well…
We go back a long time…
and a really Gifted Musician… AND… Knows Guitars… Can sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo…
:)
Great Guy…

I’m gonna check out the Godin Page…
