Madio/V's EMU

pro’s and cons.

You guys were great helpin me get a good hardrive,

Now I got this question. I’ve read alot about Emu’s and these:Madio External

Just wonderin’ what the pro’s and cons of these two options might be.
I noticed the maudio card has 2 1/4 unbalanced plugs, as well as two RCA stereo jacks, and midi.
Would that allow me to play a midi keyboard sequence, a guitar, and vocal, all recording to seperate stereo tracks?
Been readin’ alot of people happy with there Emu’s as well.
Just courious, what they have to offer.
My general price range is 100.00. I can probably get a regular audiophile2469 for less than 50.
But I have seen the above listed item, go for 120, in the past.
I’m thinkin’ payin the extra money might be worth the end results.
BTW a had a Maudiophile 2469 series before, but couldn’t get it to work, of the motherboard. That’s why I’m lookin’ into this USB interface.

Anmy tips would be appreciated.

Not really.

You'd be able to record one MIDI track and two mono or one stereo track. While it has two 1/4" and two RCA input jacks they are mapped to the same input port - two channels max.

There may be a way to use the SPDIF for more tracks.

Doesn’t sound like the extra inputs do that much for me then.
I can do pretty much the same thing with a 2469.audiophile internal soundcard. Unless, the 1/4 inch inputs are each stereo.
I would still have to do the same panning techniques to acheive seperate mono tracks.
BTW thanks phoo, but I don’t even know what a SPDIF is, or a coaxil.

SPDIF is the digital input…used mostly for hardware synthesis among other things.

hardware photosynthesis what?
???
Oh I get it, that’s when your computer starts dancing around like that plant on little shop of horrors right?

Anyway, I’ve also seen this model:
Terratec PHASE 22 4 Channel 24/96 PCI Audio
For around 100 bucks, it has two balanced analog 1/4 in. inputs along with two balanced 1/4 in. outs.

Which leaves me wondering this.
Both of these soundcards record at 24bit, both around the same price.
What (if any) is the difference in quality between the 1/4 in balanced plug ins. and 1/8 in. that the Madio boast?
