MSVCR80.dll missing error

Hi Guys:
Ever sense v4.1.6(bata). I’ve been downloading and installing the latest version, as Flavio postes them… The only “Hang” I encounterd was build 2037 to 2042… When Flavio posted build 2044 everything came together… and installed just fine, after that… Last night I downloaded build 2080 and the install .exe worked perfectlly… Well, for me… I haven’t taken IT into the studio machines, yet… But that the next part of the process… Then I’ll be “Current” with each instance of n-Track… all around…

Any .wav file from as far back as I have been creating .wav files seem to load perfectlly into n-Track… Well… any that I’ve imported into n-Track… If they don’t load from the .sng file I just create/and load a new time-line and rename the song/project and save the new .sng file in the original Project Folder…

I feel comfortable doing that and that’s all O.K. with me…

Mabey, I don’t know “what-it-is” that I should be frightened about any of that… Being “Blind” and can’t “See” don’t make you any “Blinder” when you can’t “See” anyway…

Sorry to the people who have no vision and are unable to see… I’m just makeing reference to upgrading n-Track builds…

I know Flavio is on “Top” of all this… He “grinds” this stuff out every day… So, if something ain’t right on one build… he “Fixes IT” and IT’s O.K. on the next build… Post IT here cause he’s part of this Board… the same as you-and-I…

Thank you Flavio…

Bill…

That’s a good motto !

If you start messing again over the weekend and the problem returns you can maybe try and manually register the dll it’s looking for ?

command prompt -> regsvr32 whateverthenameofthefile.dll

Back Again:
Thank you KingFish, for that post… My “Bluenose” dictionary couldn’t have made me word that better…

If I go to the Add/Remove files in my control panel, I’ll see both versions of .netframwork in there… However only v2.0 will show the file size… and IT shows 88.37mb… v1.1 does not show any file size.

As well… There is microsoft.NET Framwork 1.1 Hotfix (KB886903) as being installed… But that app doesn’t have a file size , with IT… Does that mean that microsoft .NET Framwork is installed? and not working/dorment? or not active? So… I’ve never “Tooled” around in that folder… Especially with microsoft files…

Bill,

In your situation I would leave it alone since you have the system working well. I only mentioned it just to say that I did it and no monsters appeared! I'm only picking on Tom because his "attitude" seems a little different from his "attitude" in the off topic area!! :) (hope he takes it as ribbing) ;)

Hi Again,KingFish:
Ii KkNnOoWw… Tom’s an O.K. Kindda guy… He’s a tough American… From the upper penninsular of Michigan… Flint, I think… It’s cold all the time up there… even when the Black Flies are out… … But, don’t be talking about His NHL Redwings… He gets ugly, when ya do that…

O.K. Tom… The ribbin’s all over… Get that build 2080 installed… :p

Bill…

ACK! I’M A NEOCON! :D

In however many years I’ve used n-Track (7 now? or just 6?) it has never failed me. I upgrade usually just a bit behind the curve, so in that sense I appear to be a neocon. :) Anyway, I’m going to try Wihan’s suggestion Sunday. I’m going to bet that it will work.

What exactly does registering a file do, anyway? Is there some way in which using the “remove program” function from the control panel would result in the file being unregistered, but still present in the relevant location? Does n-Track require this sort of file to be registered, or merely present in the correct place?

Thanks again, guys!

There migt be something in these threads that rings a bell. I searched microsoft.com for “MSVCR80.dll is missing” and came up with a LOT of hits in the MS forums. That seems to be a common problem when that dll is not where it should be (like in system32) or a mismatched version is found.

Hi phoo:
That’s a fastenating reply you posted there… I went to the first link and took a peek…

I didn’t go to the other links… I’d just be wasting my time looking at the threads… I might be interesting , to do so…

I know nothing about what was posted there… But what I’m seeing is… It’s a code writer’s nightmare… going on … there…

Tom’s issue revolves around “MSVCM80.dll” and a couple of other MSVxx80.dll files…

They appear to be v8.0.50215044 or v8.0.50727.42 of the same files…

When I encountered the issue with my set-up… as I was installing v4.2.0 build 2079 on my P-111… However, after some “Brain Farts” with this P-111, n-Track started up and is still running… Even after installing build 2080 over the top of build 2079…

But what’s interesting with my setup and install… the file that my P-111 and XP Desk reported was missing was MSVCP71.dll I didn’t do a properties on that file but I should…

I just did… IT has a file size of 488kbs… The version is 7.10.3077.0

IT’s a Microsoft runtime lib file for c++ I don’t know just what the differences are…

How come Tom’s issue was with MSVCM80.dll and the issue I encountered was with MSVCP71.dll ?? :O ???

In fact when I look I don’t even see that file/files series(That he posted) in my system 32 folder… ????

Anyway, these are just a bunch of questions that makes this install issue interesting for ME and all… I have a version of XP Home… IT’s v5.1.2600 SP2 build 2600

Mabey Tom is running another version of XP… ??
