n-Track Studio 10.22, 64bit on Windows 10 desktop.
Around 2012 in an earlier version of n-Track Studio on Windows XP, I used the plugin CloneEnsemble. https://cloneensemble.com/ It’s very cool. I found it on a virtual hard drive of my Windows XP PC and copied the files to my current PC. I want to use the plug with n-Track Studio 10.22.
I copied the files CloneEnsembleX42.dll and CloneEnsembleX42_DDX4.dll to the folders C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Program Files\n-Track\n-Track Studio 10\Vstplugins. I think the first one is a VST and the other is a DirectX version. I opened n-Track Studio and clicked to add an effect and it scanned all the effects available. CloneEnsemble is not listed. How can I get it to work? Thanks.
David,
installing a plugin by copying its dll files is not the proper way of installing, depending on the plugin it may not work, for various reasons, such as for example the plugin dlls may have dependencies on other dlls that might be installed on the Windows system folders. The plugin installer/setup usually takes care of the installation of the plugin dependencies. You can check in the VST scan log (Settings → Plugins → Show VST scan log) if n-Track was able to see the plugin file and if there were errors in the scan.
For (legacy) DirectX plugins there is also a ‘registration’ phase in the plugin installation that registers the plugin on the system so that n-Track can find it when it scans for plugins. Dragging and dropping the file into the n-Track window should register the plugin, but might not work if the plugin has missing dll dependencies.
