Sidechain routing with VST and VST3 plugins

Any info on the sidechain routing? I searched the document and didn't see any
specific references to "sidechain".

I’m not entirely sure what it is but I did find this information on it. Here’s the link.

Nothing in the manual?

PS For general info on side-chaining and compression; LINKY…

I searched the n-track user manual for sidechain, but found nothing.
I understand the basic concepts of sidechaining, just wondering if there was
a doc somewhere on how to get it going in n-track (since the release notes specifically
call it out).

this is all I been able to figure out about it, you may already know this.
sidechain only works for plugins that have that option. if a plugin has that option, side chain menu will showup under the sends routing menu.

I don't think the manual is updated that often.

nramusic, thanks.
I grabbed a free vst compressor with sidchain, pulled into ntrack
and you are correct, there is an output option for sidechain.
Now to get it to work.

Could you elaborate which one has such a feature?

I'm a slow poke, but so far googlin for "free vst compressor sidechain", I tried
http://www.geocities.jp/webmaster_of_sss/vst/#sidech

Attached the stereo plugin SideChCompSt to a guitar track, and the Side Chain shows up
on the channel outputs.
I selected the Aux 1 output for drum track, changed it to
the Side Chain, upped the Aux send and it clearly compped the guitar in relation to
the drums.
Seems to be some issues, like turning down the Aux send gets ignored
somewhere.

A second one is http://martineastwood.com/compressive.htm
I get it on a track and again sidechain becomes a channel out, but the gui for the vst
isn't working for me.

I get crashes with both of those.
also tried the free reaper plugs (compressor and gate), either won't work or crash, Maybe I'm doing something completely wrong or it shouldn't be this hard to work. I gave up trying to figure it out for now.

Sorry to hear that.
No crashes at my end.
Build 2513.
Must be some small thing to get you there.

I’m uploading build 2516 which fixes a problem related to side-chain input, which caused the sidechain input of a plugin to loop in an echo-like sound.
I’d be glad to know if the new build fixes the problems that have been reported.
I’ve been testing with Voxengo Crunchessor (VST 2), FabFilter Pro-C (VST3).
I’ve tested the Compressive plugins and sidechaining appears to work with the latest build, however the plugin seems to have a bug (which doesn’t seem to be caused by n-Track) that causes instability when reloading a song that uses the plugin.
I’m going to update the user manual in the next build with info on how to use side-chaining.

Flavio.

Thank you Flavio. Just tried it with SideChComp, and you fixed the issues with Aux send
not working correctly.
