New Request for v 4.1.5

Mixdown Groups…

Hi n-Trackers:
I have been comtemplating this idea for some time now… I even had the request typed up and I was ready to make the post… However, at the time , I decided not to post it and all…

So now, I’m at it again and looking for resopnses to this idea…

At the point of mixing/rendering tracks/songs… you open up the mixdown screen where… "On the Right-Hand side of the screen there appears the window where all the tracks are displayed for the purpose of “Creating” / “Render’ing”… Tracks to a Two-Track Mix…

In the previous versions… Just the Tracks are made available for Rendering/Mixdown…

But in v4.1 we now have the option(s) of displaying as many types of “Mixers” as we have ideas… of doing, so… BUT… We don’t have the option(s) of creating their MIXES…

I’d like to see this appear, in an Updated version of the Tracks to Mixdown Screen…

I’d like to have the GROUPS appear in the Tracks-To-Mixdown Window…

This would give the ability to render the Groups so they can be “Auditioned” on the time-line… For example… You might want to Audition/Try out a number of different sounding Groups, of the same tracks… to see which Group mix sounds best for the the project… You might want to render several versions of Vox Tracks that include different plugs, etc… on the same time-line… By just muting the group, after it has been Renamed-and-Rendered… Well…

That’s just one example of the “Ability-to-Render Groups” would be able to accomplish…

So… My request for v4.1.5 … IS… To UpDate the MixDown Song Screen… to include “Rendering Group Mixes”

Bill…

Ditto.

I use groups for nearly everything. The ability to “freeze” a group, and also to mixdown a group would be quite handy indeed.

Groups can be frozen already. Open the group properties and click the snowflake.

I do like the mixdown groups idea.

A trick I do sometimes is freeze the group, then manually rename the freeze wave file and unfreeze the group. I’ll then import the renamed file and delete all that tracks that were going to that group.

One thing to consider is when using AUX sends from tracks in groups that have been frozen. Playback of those tracks is not stopped when playing the song. Playback of those tracks is still necessary as any AUX send data coming from them isn’t included in the freeze file. That’s a design issue that really doesn’t have a good workaround. I say don’t freeze the group if you still need the tracks for the AUX send stuff.

Hi Guys:
Thanks for the input… and support… Regarding, the idea of “Rendering Groups”… There may be some refinement to the idea and getting it “Right”… and All… That aspect would show itself, as the Up-Date became More refined…

It would help me in, Deciding what Group mix would be “Best” in creating a “Project Mix”… I think it would have some merrit… by placing group mixes, back on the Time-Line, to A-B’ing what Group Mixes, … work… Mabey, even creating a NEW Timeline for groups, as the project mix refines it’s self… Well…

I don’t use any other software, so I don’t know how the other editors handle this aspect of rendering…

I think I’m gonna like the meters… We’ll see how they behave, as mixing projects go through the “Works”…

Just a little note, Regarding the Meter appearance…

It might be nice to have the Meters show the “Overs” to the amount of mabey, 6 db… or so… :O ??? and… I’m not totally, a meter-type-of-person, either…

It’s a “Visual Appearance”… It’s the antisipation of seeing the meter response, jump through the 0 db region that allows you to correct for the “Overs”, that make you adjust for it, in … Say … EQ or Level … or however you make level adjustments… as-well-as, setting levels for Plug-ins, and all…

Also, it would be nice to have a “Hands-On” to adjust for the “Hold Times” and “Reset Times” of how ya want the Meters to respond… to the “Feel”… Well…

I’ve never had or seen any Durrough Meters, in operation… But I’d sure like to see someone make a “Software” version of them…

Something like them would set the DAW world on another “Level”… I can see Flavio and n-Track setting the DAW/Multi-Track/Editor World on it’s, Heels… if that kind of “Meter” presentation, were part of his Editor…

Thank You Flavio, for posting v4.1.5…

Bill…

Sounds like a good idea.

Personally I’d prefer a “stem mixing” function (as it is called, AFAIK) where you could mix all of the groups to different .wav files simultaneously (or one at a time, if you prefer). Of course, it needs a warning/dialoque that asks what to do with the tracks that are not in any groups…

And a little UI request: I’d like to have a different icon for the master/aux mixer and tracks/groups mixer. Now I need to wait until the tool tip appears to be sure which one button to press…

Thanks guys:
We’re not gonna let Flavio take any vacations, this Spring.

We’ll keep his nose to the “Grind-Stone”… :O :p
