Steppin’ up in the world, are we Tom? Looking for a gold channel?
I bet either is a nice peice of kit. I have an M610 and it gets used quite a bit. The M610 has 2 impedence options for mic and 2 for High Z input, and it looks like the SOLO610 only has 1 for each. That variable input gain might come in handy, but I’ve never found much problem with the stepped version on the M610. You should be able to find a used M610 for maybe $700-800…
The solid state unit would be totally cool if it in any way works like the old 2108. That thing was a monster. Same basic gain system as the 1176. One of the best drum overhead preamps I’ve ever plugged into. Too bad they discontinued it. Used ones are starting to command some bux…
Oh, just dreaming, wishing, hoping, writing letters to santa, that sort of thing, clava.
It strikes me as cool that UA has identified the project market as worth targeting, just with the product had been 400 instead of 800, then I could actually consider it. Not like I’ve done squat in terms of writing or recording the last few weeks. Darn flu bug…
Anyway, thanks for the comments clava - you always have very useful info.
I have seen them… one of those M610s is very tempting. I have lots of clean channels, but nothing tubey. I have spent way more this year on gear than I should have… Maybe next year… Though knowing me I sell a bunch of crap on ebay and get a used 2610 or LA-610 (mmm, opto) instead. Anyone want a whole GI Joe collection for trade on a 2610?
