I just heard the stinkiest one EVER…
Ozzy Osborne and gang doing a remake of “Mississippi Queen”…
The most powerful Hoover ever built never sucked like that. Yeesh…
D
Ugggg, hate remakes too. Haven’t heard that one and will stay away from it.
D, I think you’ve come up with a new rating system, "The Hoover 10"
1 = didn’t really suck
10 = Maximum Suckage
A buddy recently played me some cuts off a bluegrass cd, they did a cover of Neil Youngs “Powderfinger” I wuz puking. But then he played me a cut of Jeff Becks “You Know What I Mean” bluegrass style, I was impressed.
Have to leave Mountain remakes to phoo and the FARTones!
Never In My Life
Leave it to the fart ones to have a skinny guy from Norway that does a decent fat guy from New York…there must be some common ground there…somewhere
(thanks!!)
As for Ozzie doing any Mountain song? I just can’t hear it yet. I’ll give him the benefit until proven too drooly. It might be fun, like a really bad horror film that can be so unintentionally funny it’s good.
Then a gain, it might be better than any of us can imagine. I’m not holding my breath.
Phoo, you guys do honor to the stuff you remake… seriously. This Ozzy thing is a mockery. REALLY bad. Trust me… pee-eewww.
D

HAHAHA!!!
But I ain't so skinny as I used to be. I'm around 160 lbs these days (I guess y'all were just dying to know that...

160lbs ?? is that soaking wet?
Nah. Just 2 beers (and a chili dog)…

Oh yes!

I heard Cyndi Lauper do her version of the Animals “Dont let me be Misunderstood” this morn ,I have never really heard much by her but i dug what she did too that tune, kinda acoustic,a bit of soul.its a keeper
The Elvis Costello cover of Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood is a keeper too.
Well I just heard a cover of Bob Dylan’s Mr. Tamborine Man by
Leslie West
over a phone call, I gotta get this, a whole album of Dylan tunes by the ex Great Fatsby! He is pretty lean now.

Have to try that Yaz. Nantucket Sleighride was one of the seminal tunes for me when I was young and impressionable!
We need a thread for good covers, and a thread for wretched covers.
Remember: “cover” does not necessarily equal "remake"
The down side is that I don’t know which is which. My first inclination is that a “cover” is simply doing an already done version of a song. A “remake” is to do a new arrangement.
(but I agree about the good and wretched)
Leslie West is one of my favorite artists. I love everything he plays. Mountain has some good songs and a lot of bad songs. He pulled most of them through.
Yes, West can do KILLER remakes of Dylan songs. Anyone remember his version of
“This Wheels On Fire”?
(hard to believe wiki doesn’t mention it)
I like to take songs and put my own twist or mark of insanity on ‘em, along with a hint of parody here and there. If you think about it, everybody rips off everyone else to a certain degree.
But I do agree, Ozzy doing the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive” violently cleaned my stomach out!
hard to believe wiki doesn't mention it
Actually, it does. I missed seeing the mention of Leslie West down near the bottom.
Dylan has been well represented by other artists. Sometimes bettered. One word: Watchtower.
ON wretched remakes, there’s always Captian Kirk…
I’ve got a GREAT WRETCHED album for the list. It pretty close to rivaling Shatner’s Lucy In The Sky. I’ll see if I can dig it up when I get home. (had to work today and will probably have to work tomorrow as well…ugh…I need a break)
This cover of “You Shook Me All Night Long” by Celine Dion is extremely rancid.
Even the guitar solo is horrible.
Warning:
May cause excessive spewage.
ugh
