Plugins

Some not working

Build 2097

Today I noticed my Kjaerhus Classic (free) vst’s not working. In fact if I call one up N-track disappears and I’m back to the desktop. Wrapped with a vst wrapper they work.

I’ve also noticed some of my plugins (such as Cakewalk Dynamics) crackle or pop once in a while. (Never did before)

I’m recording in 24 bit 44.1 with an AudioPhile 24/96 and have been for some time without many problems.

So my questions are:

Is anyone else having this problem or is it me?

Could this be new programming on N-tracks part that will leave some of these pluging obsolete?

What does the N-track Auto volume do? (Is it a Limiter?)

Is there a list somewhere that tells which plugins work or don’t work?

Any info will be appreciated.

Call up your DSP thingy from the toolbar when you’ve got a .wav file in the Timeline. The little Effects dialog-box appears… see the Settings button? Click on it, and it brings you to a big FX display window. From here you can enable/disable various FX.

Have you done any major install or uninstall? Might have scrambled something in your FX settings. That’s as technical as I get!

Not having any problem like this myself, but moving back and forth between 3.3 and 4.2 has forbade the use of some plug-ins- going backwards certainly has.

Hi… on this topic:
I just updated to build 2098 and saw your post on the “Classic” Plug-ins…

I have all the “Classic” plugs and as well the “Golden Series” of Kjaerhus plug-ins…

I just opened a file on the timeline on build 2098 and opened both the “Classic” and the “Golden” series into that build… all with no issues…

I wonder what the issue could be with build 2097? Have you installed build 2098 yet? I’d give that a try, KingFish… to see how that build works, in your set-up…

Bill…

Thanks guys…

I’ll try out the latest build tomorrow and report back.

UPDATE: SUCCESS! 2098 and all is back to normal!

Now if Flavio could only straighten out the video/mixers display problems…sigh…

Kingfish, you might want to check the M-Audio website for new drivers for your audio interface. I have an Audiophile USB, and they just released new drivers for it. There seem to be several products that are assosciated with the Audiophile name - so you’ll have to check to see if your version is included in the update.

Anyhow, the new ASIO driver is MUCH more efficient than the old one. And if your crackles are from buffer overruns, I suspect that the new drivers will help. The new drivers are a complete rewrite of the old ones, and also seems to have cleared up a number of problems. Things seem to run more smoothly in general, so it might help with other issues too.

Thanks for the info on the drivers…I’ll check it out tonight.

Originally I thought the cracks and pops might be buffers…but upon installing the latest build…they went away!

I really hadn’t had that problem before 2097 either.

I’ll check out the drivers though.

Thanks
