Spdif and Digital Signal
Hi Gents:
I am contemplating expanding the studio audio Record-and-Playback Paths to include Digital Signal Paths…
I’d like to incorporate these lines in-and-out of the patch bay to include the on-board Realtek audio card along with the m-Audio 192 Card in the Creation Station Computer and then to inclide the Alesis MasterLink… AND…
then have these paths appear on the patch bay
I’ve never been into these parts of the signal paths/chains…
My question(s) are…
Can digital signal paths be safely
paralleled and series’d to complete interconnecting digital paths ?
At the first attempt of doing this I am only working on the repro chain…
I’ve not got into any record
paths/chains yet…
However, I’ve had the MasterLink repro’ing and the m-Audio card repro’ing, from the digital outputs…
What should I need to consider as I assemble these signal paths…
Lots of advice and help needed here, guys…
Thanks for your help and insight…

Eyup!
I assume you are talking about S/PDIF signals Bill.
Treat these as you would a video signal i.e. 75 Ohm impedance, and use 75 Ohm Co-ax cable to distribute them.
For multiple outputs, use video distribution amplifiers in order to preserve impedances.
You can’t just parallel cables together.

Thanks Beffy Steve:
This is a distance Down-the-Road …
I’m just trying to grasp the Digital means of transferring tracks through the audio cards and the MasterLink Recorder…
I am discovering a downfall/negative side of the Alesis MasterLink Recorder…
It has no USB entry in-or-out of the machine…
Transferring files by that means is a NO-NO…
However, there’s a 40 gig Hard drive in it…
The machine seems to have any-other means of transferring files… BUT…
NO USB Entry…
OR…
LAN Connection…
