scratchy record effect plug-in?

Does anyone know a link to a free plug-in that gives the sound of a scratchy record to a recording?

have a look here -

Thanks. I tried to open the “Vinyl Dreams VST v1.0.zip” from that site and could not make it work. When I extracted it and put it in the n-track plug ins file, it wouldn’t show up. Any suggestions???

seems that download is corrupt -

om first search with GOOGLE it came up with an IZOTOPE (TOP OF THE RANGE) plugin, but it said PRO TOOLS so i discounted it as being the wrong type to use in N, then after finding the other one was broken, i GOOGLED again and this time noticed that the IZOTOPE one was also VST, so without much hope i opened the link and to my suprise the plugin was FREE - but first you have to register also free, then you can download it, - must admit got a bit worried when download passed 10MEG as thats bigger than Ns main program -

took me a while to get it to show in effects listing but after re-scanning everything it appeared - well was all the effort worthwhile YES its brilliant -

HA HA HAAAAAA - click on the 4 bolts when the VINYL effect is in view -

you can improve this effect by inserting the track you want to effect and then make a clone of it - add VINTL effect to ONE track only then use tack faders to get the correct blend - if you turn the volume down (left fader on effect) then only the effect (right fader) can be used - if you play about with Ns EQ you can get some nice phasing effects (like old time radio) to add to it - click on left of the three little dials on track fader to open EQ panel -

EASY WAY TO AUTOMATE VINYL EFFECT -

insert ANY track in to N (best if about 5 mins long) it doesnt matter what is on the track as not using audio but need track for effect to run -

open VINYL effect, pull left fader down to ZERO, set WEAR and DUST to 100% set disk speed to 33rpm and other dial to 1930, press PLAY then adjust output (RIGHT FADER) so red leds just blink - stop track playing reset timrlime to start position - now do a mixdown call track say VINYL DUST - now pull DUST to ZERO and set SCRATCH to 65%, do mixdown call track VINTL SCRATCH -

you now have two wave files that you can insert into any song and the amount and the positioning of DUST and/or SCRATCH can easily be controlled by using tracks VOLUME automation -

Very Awesome! Thanks for finding that for me. I really like the “mechanical noise” effect. We do blues, swing and old jazz from the 1930s to the 1960s eras. We are soon going to put out our second full length CD that we’ve recorded on n-track. We have an up-tempo 1930s Inkspots tune that I think will sound great with the “mechanical noise” and “1930s” effects. We put our lastnfull length CD out 3 years ago. Since then we have sold over 500 in the bars we play in. n-track has made things SO much fun for us small time musicians who just play on the weekends; and the KIND HELPFULNESS of PEOPLE LIKE YOU on this forum has been wonderful. Thanks again!

EDIT TO “EASY AUTOMATION” ABOVE - set SCRATCH to 1 - otherwise it wont make any scratch sound - you will see what i mean if you try it -

Glad to be of help John - but thank you for asking, without your query myself and many others may never have come across such a great FREE plugin -
