Hi Chris.
Have you tried another interface with the dell?
Has Flavio had anything to say?
TonyR–No, I haven’t tried any other interface; and no, Flavio has not weighed in. But I really liked Oh? on the krackpot link. I’m age 62 and I shared it with my daughter who did a semester at King’s College London last spring. I’m sure she will like it as well.
Twins in college at the minute explains why I haven’t tried another interface.

Thanks Chris.
I don't think I'll be encouraging our second to go to Uni - it's down the pit for him;-)
Give Flavio a nudge.
TonyR–Erica really enjoyed the tunes. Flavio isn’t standing next to me just now, so I don’t know how to administer a nudge. Thanks.
Chris
That makes ASIO #2 in my list, right? The Latitude laptop’s processor is a bit under powered (has plenty of memory, though). Does that impact the choice?
I have the Tascam 122L and use it on my laptop (I have a much more extensive studio setup on a desktop where I use a Presonus firestudio as well) but to get the best performance out of the Tascam open the audio devices list from the settings list at the top and then open the advanced list in the window the comes up. In that window you can choose to check or uncheck WDM ASIO etc drivers for your n track/Tascam setup. Uncheck all of them except the ASIO choice. So ASIO is the only one chosen then click ok. The only choices you will be left with in the driver screen will be Tascam MK122/144L and any other ASIO drivers you may have installed yourself. Choose the Tascam MK122/144 choice. Tascam doesn’t tell you that these are ASIO drivers for some reason but they are and they are truly the best performance drivers in your situation. Actually I got through to the company that makes my Presonus interface and they said that ASIO drivers are the best in almost every situation at this time in DAW evolution. In the future this may change. As well take the line out for your speakers out of the Tascam RCA jacks or if you want the headphone jack (You can’t do both at the same time for some reason). I hope this clears it all up for you and I see that you went to the Tascam site and loaded the latest drivers from there so all should work well for you I hope now.
Happy Tracking.
