sidechain

possible in n?

hi,

does anybody know how to use a sidechain comp or gate in N?
and where to get good gate plugs. prob. free?

It can be done but you need a plugin that supports it. I used to use this one:

http://www.dancetech.com/aa_dt_n…&lang=1

…but the link from that page seems to be dead. I dunno, perhaps you can search around. I’m sure there are others.

As for free plugins, there are literally hundreds, maybe thousands around.

Try…

http://www.kvr-vst.com/

or

http://www.mda-vst.com/

or

http://www.digitalfishphones.com/main.php?item=2&subItem=1

or

http://www.fasoft.com/effects.shtm

or search here; the question has come up before.

You could try that one.

thanks!
i still search for a free sidechain gate!
can`t find one!

You mean sorta like this one?

http://www.8ung.at/sinus/gg.html

yes bill,

thanks!!!

so i have found a workaround for sidechaining.
di you think sidechaining integration i ntrack would be a feature you need? like in protools or logic, directly from mixer

yes.

Yah, it would be cool.

Resurrecting an old thread about sidechain compressors.

How do you route the triggering input in the sidechain of an effect in N-track? For example if the kick drum is on the track 1 and I would like to use that to control the compression on bass on track 2.

Here’s the working link for Slim Slow Slider Sidechain Compressor

Thanks

Eyup!

I wanted to do this a while ago with gated reverb.

The problem was that signal routing in NTrack was not flexible enough. (V3.3)

There is a plug in called senderella which you can apply to the tracks and route them to whichever other track you wish.
For instance, if you want to sidechain kick and bass, you have to apply senderella to both the kick and bass tracks.
Then you apply your sidechain compressor (or whatever) to the track you want to sidechain and route senderella accordingly.

Good luck, I never got the gated reverb to work properly, but I think it was more down to my incompetence than anything inherently wrong with the plug.

Oh, I think it only works if you are using ASIO drivers too.

Steve

Thanks, Steve.

Sadly it seems to be quite an effort, but maybe I give it a go sometimes. And the #### ASIO isn’t working for me as well as WDM.

hey steve,

i think you mean ducked reverb, not gated. or am i wrong?
for gating a reverb you just put a gate after the reverb plug and if reverb level fall under the threshold it is cut.
but in ntrack there is currently now way for stereo duckin.
with slimshows plugs mono is possible. read the manual for the routing. i think left channel is key and right signal.
i requestet this often from flavio but never got heard.

Eyup!

Yes, I think ducking is what I meant, where the reverb is NOT heard until the signal falls below a preset level, then the reverb comes through.

that only works with mono reverb in ntrack
