Stylus RMX

I was thinking of purchasing the Stylus RMX plug in. Has anyone had experience with this software and is it compatable with nTrack?

Hi bongobob:

Does the plug-in have a demo that you can try with n-Track to see how it performs with your setup? What does the Stylus RMX plug allow you to manipulate with your tracks?

Bill…

They do not offer a demo version I can try. Stylus RMX is a real time groove module for creating drum and percussion loops.

On there web site they have this…

Stylus RMX operates as a virtual instrument software plug-in for Macintosh and Windows in all major hosts including Apple Logicâ„¢, MOTU Digital Performerâ„¢, Digidesign Pro Toolsâ„¢, Ableton Liveâ„¢, Steinberg Cubase SXâ„¢, Nuendoâ„¢, V-Stackâ„¢, Apple Garage Bandâ„¢, Fruity Loopsâ„¢, Sony Acid Proâ„¢, Cakewalk Sonarâ„¢, Project 5â„¢ and many other VST and Audio Unit host applications.

If it is compatable with the programs listed would it be compatable with n-Track?

Hi Again bongobob:

That plug sounds like a pretty interesting application…
Although n-Track hosts VST Plugs, I’d be interested in how some mail to their support would come back to you if you mentioned n-Track… as the Host Application in it’s use…( the plug)that is…

Maybe, they have a forum that you could post some questions and see what answers come back to you…
as well…
if there is a forum check to see what issues the users have with the application…
and…
it’s use…
and all…

Bill…

I went on the Spectrasonics forum and posted the ? this was one response…
Stylus works by dragging n dropping the midi file from Stylus into your host sequencer’s track area. As long as your host supports DnD, and soft synths, you should have no problem. I don’t believe Stylus runs in stand-along mode.

So does n-Track support DnD and soft synths?

Try the demo, I’d say.
The thing you are looking at uses VST, and n-Track does VST very well.
But try the demo - you may find that it isn’t what you want anyway, and that’s a hunk o’ cash to lay out without trying the demo.
So I’d say…try the demo.
???

edit: Hmm…I’m looking for the demo version of it, adn I can’t find it…

Yes, the have no demo.

Good God, for some reason I’m singing “Yes, we have no bananas…” :)

Curious. Why do they not have a demo?

Geeze - wish you hadn’t said that - I was avoiding doing the same thing…

Thanks guys…thanks A LOT! :)

Yes! We have no…ARGH!!!

That was my intent…Lets all sing along!!

I have no idea why they don’t offer a demo, I will have to ask and I will let you know.

And you seemed like such a nice guy, Bongo.

Actually, I’m going to keep on bumping up this thread just to bother phoo. ???

Hi Gents:

I went over to that page a looked around…

This application looks like it has lots of potential…

For me…
and if I were still in the Tracking Business…
I would not be using it to replace a REAL DRUMMER…
(As opposed to using the drummer and his patients, to do drum tracks and waisting his valuable time to get the FEEL of how the drum tracks FIT the song).
I’d be using this application for getting the FEEL of Drum Lines-and-Tracks to see how they fit with THE Project/Songs…
It’s got some 7 gigs. of samples…
I copied the system specs. for the single and multi timbral operations…
They look like this…
excuse the “copy-and-paste” space…
It doesn’t appear to take some “Super Machine” to use the utility in the “Single-Timbral” Mode.
Maybe, in the Multi-Timbral Mode…
it might need a respectable machine.

SINGLE-TIMBRAL (1 Part) System Recommendations

640mb RAM, 8GB free hard disc space for core library, DVD-ROM drive

Macintosh:
OSX 10.2.6 or higher, 500mHz G3 or better CPU Audio Unit, RTAS, or VST host
e.g., Pro Tools 6.4, Logic 6.x, Digital Performer 4.12,
Cubase SX 2.2.0

Windows PC:
Windows 2000/XP, 600mHz Pentium III or better CPU, sound card
VST host
Cubase SX 2.2.0, Abelton Live 4.0.4, Project5 1.5 and
Sonar 2.2(with Cakewalk VST wrapper, not included),
Fruity Loops Studio 4.5.2, Acid Pro 4.0f (Build 446)

MULTI-TIMBRAL (8 Parts) System Recommendations

1GB RAM, 8GB free hard disc space for core library, DVD-ROM drive

Macintosh:
OSX 10.2.6 or higher, 1gHz G4/G5 or better CPU
Audio Unit, RTAS or VST host
e.g., Pro Tools 6.4, Logic 6.x, Digital Performer 4.12,
Cubase SX 2.2.0

Windows PC:
Windows 2000/XP, 1ghz Pentium IV or better CPU, sound card
VST host
Cubase SX 2.2.0, Abelton Live 4.0.4, Project5 1.5 and
Sonar 2.2(with Cakewalk VST wrapper, not included),
Fruity Loops Studio 4.5.2, Acid Pro 4.0f (Build 446)

Just having the samples …
If they can be used in other applications might be nice to have.

Maybe, if Flavio looks in on this thread…
He might put his “SPIN” on it’s use with n-Track…
He might look in on Spectrasonics from a Programmer’s point-of-view and see what he can come up with and report back to this thread with his take on the utility…

Is the $300.00 version good enough OR…
is the “Expanded” version necessary ????

Bill…

I was looking at it for creating percussion loops. I am a drummer and certainly don’t want to replace myself. I have been doing my own loops the old fashion way. Record each part, play with it, manipulate it then save. This software would save me a lot of time and far more creativity with what I can do. I have a friend who is a professional touring drummer and he told me about it. He uses it all the time and loves it.

The Expanded version just gives you more samples. If you were looking at needing more then the 7G provided, you would get 13G, I would get the bundle package. If you bought each one seperatly it would cost you $500 instead of just $100 more for the expanded version.
