Tried to sing this with the sinuses still plugged. EQ took a lot of it out, actually:
“You’ll Come Back For Me”:

still hooked on that trashy guitar sound. fun!
the voice sounds the same as it ever was.
Eyup!
The sinuses didn’t seem to be a problem Tom.
I thought the trash guitar was a bit loud during the verses on this one.
Whenever I try to go for the trash sound it seems to accentuate even the slightest tuning error, but you seem to pull it off perfectly.
I gotta practise more.
Steve
Thanks for the comments and listens, fellows!
Funny thing, Steve, about the guitar and intonation - that’s the Ric, as seen below, and I’ve never really thought that it sounded quite in tune, no matter how carefully I tuned it (I have one of those strobo peterson tuners, and have tried lots of variations), but dang the thing records more easily than any other guitar I’ve tried.
I agree about the level of the guitar on the verses.
One other interesting thing, which I’m sure you have known all along, is how everything will sound balanced on one system, but on another.
In this case I listened both on the studio monitors, my home stereo, and the laptop.
Perhaps it’s an EQ thing.
MP3s seems to change the EQ of things.

Thats a topic that could be discussed to death (probably already has on this forum).
Ive just learned to accept that mp3 isn't going away soon.
I assume you use the "convert to mp3" function in n-track, what mp3 settings do you use?
I use High or Very High.
I have fooled myself to think I can hear differences between the levels.
for soundclick, the mp3 rate has to be 128kbps (unless you have a fancy account), and that starts to crappify the high end, a degrade the whole experience in general.
320kbps seems to keep things mostly intact, but that costs 8 bucks a month or something on soundclick.
Is 128kbps built into the mp3, or is this the SoundClick player/server setting?
Soundclick requires it.
I used Goldwave with LAME. Same as the converter used by n-Track, IIRC.
More than just degrade the high end, it also seems to change the actual balance of the instruments, to me. Is that possible?
change the actual balance of the instruments
Sure, I guess if you remove some of the harmonic content of an instrument, you also remove some of its volume in the mix? Especially if other instruments don't have the same harmonic content by their nature.
Seems like that’s what happens, to me.
I didn’t listen to more than a measure. Guitar sounded in tune. I think you need to dig a bigger notch at 1k. Don’t mean to be rude, or mean. Just trying to help you reach more people with your music. I’m also sorry that I had you all listen to my harsh guitar tones earlier in the year.
Yea go to mixposer.com that site is great!
Dude, you just called me chicken and then you tell me to go dig a notch?
Yea but at least I don’t have sex on my mind like bubba! That was discutin; pullin a train with ones lips, uck!
