Huh, this is the first I’ve seen of this post. How did I miss it? Anyway. I read about some folks who were doing this sort of thing with High school students. Read it over at tapeop.com several years ago. Been sort of waiting for our kids to hit middle school, then I just collected some stuff and passed out some flyers to the kids, and the response was underwhelming. Until just a few weeks before the end of the school year, when they heard what Ruby and Reyna had done. I expect a full group in September when school starts up again. I can bore you with long speeches about kids in urban environments who have nothing to do after school and how music is so important to them, and what a great guy I am, and how an anonymous donor shot us a thousand Yankee dollars just before the end of the school year, but I won’t. I am very much looking forward to September.
