I have just installed the Aliant Hi-Speed internet service…
I contacted the call center yesterday morning… Today, the mailman delivered the Hardware package. I loaded my P-111 with the included install CD and removed the old modem…
replaced the network card (CAT-5) cable device connected the telephone wire the the new modem and connected the network card (in the computer) and Lo-and-Behold I have a working Hi-Speed internet connection…
I don’t know how fast it is yet… I’m picking away at checking my E-Mail Account and basic browsing and all…

Flavio has a newer build posted than I have loaded on this machine…
The modem-and-dialup used to take me just over an hour the get the 15-16 meg. file… I am presently at Build 2459… I’m gonna download the build 2461 now and time the download…
and compare…

The transfer rate is 107 kbs per second…
I’m at 55% now…
it was less than 3 minutes…
I have some wireless USB devices to install on the other boxes to complete the LAN system and that should complete the Hi-Speed connection to my setup… I hope…
I can now brouse the network and chin-wag on the telephone at the same time…
I’ve not been able to do that …

p.s. I have a 30 day check-out time limit… However, I’m new to this service… Maybe when the new wares off I’ll get the oppertunity to see it for it’s preformance… From what I see now… I believe the P-11 is the bottleneck… I need to power up this Sweetwater Machine and connect the USB wireless stuff to get the feel of the LAN…

I powered the Creation Station up this afternoon…
I was exploring the Folders-and-Files that are installed on the Drive…
I have a Viewsonic 19" Flat panel monitor connected to the Graphics Card…
This machine is so nice, everyone…

I attempted to connect the wireless USB Dongle to see if I could connect to the DSL Modem…
I installed the drivers The device Manager says it is working O.K. and all…
However, I must be missing some details or something…
NO-GO…
I needed to take a break and maybe I’ll find a FIX and discover what I overlooked…
If That don’t work I’ll call the Aliant Support center and see if he can point me in the right direction…

I see a Drummer Manufacturing Application on the drive, as well…
I’d like to get connected and check the Microsoft update page, for VISTA…
and get the Panda Virus Application up-and-running…
This morning I got this P-111 Intel Machine up-and-current with Microsoft XP Updates…
I downloaded some 400 megs. of Updates… I don’t think I was connected to the Update page any more than an hour…

My clostest guesstimate is…
this DSL/Modem connection is some 20-22 times faster than the Modem-and-Dialup I leaving behind…
I plan to continue using the Server and using it’s service to keep my E-Mail Address and Connection…
I hope to have a Steady Hand on the Tiller…
