I have an Oxygen 49 Midi keyboard controller, and it has transport controls, sliders and the like.
I am able to use n-track midi learn mode for most of the transport things.
I can record, fast forward, and so on.
But Play/Stop plays for a second and stops.
It is called Plat/Stop, but I expected it to play until I hit it again.
Any ideas?
Hi pingcat:
I think that n-Track could work in this mode…
I’ve not tried it but the “Pause” control is instant…
I believe that while in the “Record” mode n-Track’s transport might be able to be put in the “Pause” mode…
It might be worth a try…
That’s why I’d like to see the “Pause” control Icon turn to FLASHING RED…
when the transport is placed in the PAUSE Mode…
Bill…
Nothing to do with pause.
If I hold down the designated play button on my oxygen49, then n-track does playback.
As soon as I let go of the button, playback stops.
It looks like n-tracks Play/Stop mode is influenced by both controller button up and down.
I tried assignment to other buttons and still the same.
The other n-track modes like Record, Stop, Rewind to 0, and Pan all work.

It should be set to in MIDI control in the ACTION part to "Play/Stop" below that to "Receive" check marked and below that "Normal/Proportional". You might try the other options there "Incremental or Incremental alt". One of those options I think will set the MIDI control to a step switch instead of a on/off action. Give it a try.

PACO,
thanks for the try, but no good.
I tried all the combos.
Everyting else is working.

File a bug report. Flavio has been working recently on some MIDI stuff so it would be a good to do so.

Hi to all, I’m Paolo, I’m a new developer of ntrack studio.
Pingcat, perhaps your controller sends the same midi message for button pressed, and button released, probably “noteon”, but with different velocity values, 127 when pressed, and 0 when released.
Please try changing in the “Settings->MIDI Faders/control setup” panel, the midi event range value to 1-127, instead of 0 - 32767 which is the default range.
Regards,
Paolo.
Hi Paolo:
Welcome to the n-Track Board…
It’s nice to see you here…
I’m sure all the Midi Freaks will do the same and welcome you here, as well…
I’m not one of them (Midi Freaks), yet…
I have so much to learn-and-discover, about Midi and it’s operation(s)…
I got some Midi stuff, however, it’s so dated, it’s funny…
I have a Roland D-5 keyboard, a Roland SC-55 Sound Canvas, an Alesis 16-bit HR-15/MMT-8-Track Multi-Track Midi Recorder with little-or-no knowledge of what to do with them…
All this stuff is outtta the late’80’s early 90’s…
It was cutting-edge Midi when it was new…
I think I’m gonna donate it to the North American Midi Museum when they appoint a Curator for it…
Bill…
Hi Paolo.
Bill! One of the nice things about MIDI is that the basics haven’t changed much over the years so old gear is still relevent.
Hi TonyR:
Way back when… I was using the D-5 Keyboard to control/trigger the Sound Canvas…
Then using the Alesis MMT 8-Track Midi Recorder to store the Midi information…
Believe it-or-not, it worked pretty nice…
As hard as I looked I couldn’t seem to find the right sound card for dumping the information into a computer and hard drive…
I guess I didn’t quite know what to look for…
Maybe, the setup didn’t require a computer interface…
The Alesis Drummer isn’t an HR-15…
It’s an HR-16…
Anyway, it was about that time that Alesis updated the Drummer to an SR-16…
with stereo samples…
and it blew the socks off the HR-16 Drummer… It was then that I threw all the Midi stuff into the corner…
Bill…
p.s.
It’s hard to believe…
That was more than 20 years ago…
Where has all that time gone.
?
It only seems like it was yesterday…
Hello Paolo,
Welcome.
And thanks, you solved my problem.
I would have never figured that one out.
How cool to not have to rely on the mouse or special key strokes!
Moved to Tips and Tricks.
