Is there such a feature in N?
Just wondering,
back in the days of old while mixing I used to trim the channels of my mixing board in a way that all the faders would be in 0 db* and the balance would be quite there. Then I was able to make more precise and nicer looking adjustments with faders - and actually to restore the project around where I started it with just moving faders to 0.
Is there such a feature in N-track somewhere?
* in analog world, not in the meaning of making evreything as loud as possible, but as a reference point of a mixing board sliders, where there’s as much of room for taking fader up or down.
I’ve been out of it for a good while now, but it seems to me this ought to be standard procedure- especially if you’re working (mixing) with someone else- so you can give them a “straight-line” session to work from.
Getting your tracks to line-up volume-wise as relative to fader postitions…
You can bounce you individual tracks to a new track I suppose, thus getting them all to a “common” volume- leaving all your faders at the “zero” position together.
This ought to get an answer from an experienced user.
Hi Gents:
That was discussed way back in v2-and-3, at some length…
A "Trim-or-Gain Attenuating Control is all standard on analogue Mixing desks…
Something like that should be on the “Front-End” of any mixing/tracking strip of any analogue or digital mixing strip…
I’ve found a pretty nice one that I use, especially on drum tracks and any track for that matter…
e.g. Snare and kick tracks…The link to the PAD is here and it’s as good as I know to have…
It’s free and…
it works…
FREE PAD
AND…
if I recall…
it doesn’t use much resources…
It’s as sophisticated as any, that I’ve seen…
Every n-Track strip should be outfitted with one…
with the ability to use it or remove it in the preferences…
Bill…
[EDIT]
I’m back here to add to the post… If we all got down on our knees and elected one of us to pass around the bucket and we all threw in our pocket change … maybe Flavio would add it or something that resembles it, do you think he might add it to the next builds??
