Unable to install burner app..

Removal of Nagg screens…

Hi Guys;
I have this Burner application I’d like to install on my Studio P-111 machine…

[EDIT] the desk is XP Pro. This app. can be installed on any desk including '98SE through to XP… So IT says… I have IT installed on my other machines… But not on the '98SE desks… yet…

However a screen appears telling me the iKernel .exe could not be installed…So, the install application quits/closes…

IT says… Make Sure You Have The nessessary priviledges to copy files to this Folder… (0 x 20)

I rebooted the machine in safe mode and nothing changes…

Is there a workaround to get this application to install…??

Bill…

Bill,

A Google search of your error message lead me to this page - http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108247

I hope it helps.

T’other Bill.

Hi Bill:
Thanks for the link to that issue… I’m gonna go and see if it allows me to install that application…

Bill…

Hi Again:
That moves the install along to another issue… I did a cont-alt-delete… I found the ikernel .exe and quit the program… then the install shield proceeded along to another window… Called “Component Transfer Error” in that screen was called “Catastrophic Failure”… The install “Locked-up” at that point… I tried the install a couple of times… “No-GO”… Yet…

You see. this is a Dual Boot machine… The Drive I’m attempting to install this app. on is a drive renamed as drive “C”… in fact it is Drive “G”… mabey I have to overcome this issue to continue the install… But I’m only Guessing at this… :O ???

[EDIT] Yet… this install application worked on the P-4 machine which is another dual-boot machine… with no issues, and all…

Bill…

What burner app are you trying to install?

Bill,

Again - a Google search on the “Component Transfer Error” leads to this page - http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q109010

t’Other Bill.

Thanks Again… Bill:
You know… I was gonna type that in a search and see what would have come back… ??? I get the Hee-Bee GeeBee’s when I encounter things I am uncomfortable, with…

I have this Burner Software…

http://www.cheetahburner.com/

I’ll tell you all… I don’t mind supporting the Little Guys… and… I have Nero and Roxio Burners… But this Burner software works fine in the other machines I have…

However, this machine has developed some issue that is not getting any better… It’s the P-111 dual boot machine that I have the C-Port STA 2000 audio hardware installed on IT…

I am attempting this latest series of Projects with this hardware… And All-of-a-Sudden it has manufactuered “BLUE SCREENS”… And “Memory Stack Dumps”…

A bunch of you guys are saying that the Audio Hardware has some kind of failure… You are probablly right… I don’t know… I’m frightened to agree with you… If IT is… TOO BAD…

I’m hopeing it’s an issue with the Operating Systems and the Hardware… Who knows?? I don’t possess the Ware-Fores to figure IT ALL Out… So… as a result… I’m stuck Between-and-in-the- Middle of a Project… ??? :(

Life was so easy when ya threaded a piece of tape past a Set-of-Tape Heads… :O :p

That’s what I think… Today…

Bill…

Did you download and try the ComponentTransferErrorFix.exe file the site recommended?

Yes Sir:
I’m watching the Hockey Game right now… I downloaded that utility earlier, this morning…
I’ll be installing IT later today… I just missed that opening goal of the Third Period…

Bill…

Hi Bill:
I installed that Burner… It went just fine… I installed the “FIX” utility… and attempted another install… NO-GO… I did a “Restore” back to Dec. 18th… … re-installed the FIX… No-GO… I rebboted and attempted another install… at the point of where to direct the install I discovered where the issue was…

I directed the application to the correct Drive… It is Drive “G”… The default on this machine is Drive “C”… That’s not where the install is supposed to go…

After a Re-Boot the Burner is working just fine…

Mark A said I would have install issues way back in the Fall… Regarding this Dual-Boot Machine… He is SOO right…

Thank you Bill and Mark A and All… I’ll try to Get-It-Right…

Doh! Now it’s my fault

You see Mark, Had I paid a mind to all you Computer expirenced guys, starting with you and then phoo, I would have navigated beyond '98SE and gone directly to XP on the machines that I needed XP only… And kept one machine with '98SE only… With all your advice, that should have been the logical step from… Not attempting to run TWO Operating systems on one machine…

Hind sight is 20/20…

However, I managed to survive the the transition… but barely… cause the issues are still on-going…

Did I learn anything? Not that I could place on the head of a pin… Another thing… A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing, to possess… around computers…

Another thing I’ve learned… Don’t send off Blue Screen Reports to Microsoft… Cause they’ll render your xp Codes useless… Then ya gotta go get them to turn your operating system back on… by giving ya new codes… But, that’ll only work for 3-4 times… After that… your on-your-own…

Would I do that again? Probably… Cause I haven’t learned to keep my fingers where they don’t belong…

Do I know what I’m doing? NO…

Do I like what I’m doing… Yes… But I’d like what I’m doing better , if I knew what I was doing…

That’s the “Catch”… the “Hook”… the “22”…
