Hi. I’ve been using n-track for nearly ten years, but recently had to purchase a new computer. (My old one went belly up.) Of course, it had VISTA pre-installed, so I had to upgrade from n-track 3.3 to version 5. I use n-track strictly for audio editing. I do telephone on hold messages for companies across the country. My problems are as follows…
1. Since I do telephone on hold messages, I prefer to record and edit in mono, rather than stereo. When I set the preferences to mono and record my voice over a microphone, the playback makes me sound like an extra in “Alvin and the Chipmunks.” The playback is waaaaaaaaaaay faster. When I switch back to stereo, the playback is perfect. It’s a small annoyance, I know, but it seems to me that mono should work. It sure used to work in version 3.
2. How do I reduce the visual layout of individual files? If I record something that’s three minutes long, it is HUGE on my screen and goes for miles. How do I get the files to appear as they used to appear in version 3?
That’s it…for now. Any help that anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!!!

for your visual layout,up in the toolbar there are 4 magnifying glass’s that have + an - ,these are the time and vertical axis, keep pokin at the minus and you will get to where ya wanna be,
as far as the other thing goes that sounds weird, there is a transpose/speed/pitch/adjust playback speed section ya may wanna look into ,other users will probably pipe in with thier tips too,
Thanks for the tip re: the vertical axis. That did the trick and made the job a bit more manageable! Now if I could just get the mono playback problem figured out I’ll be good to go!
