I got an email this weekend announcing the coming final release of V6 in a couple of weeks? I doubt the bugs will be gone in two weeks not to mention added features some of us were hoping for. There’s nothing here that will get my credit card out…

2) More ROUTING features i.e. Auxes/Groups to hardware outs with more flexibility for outboard monitoring mixes NEIN
3) Better PDC in ALL cases. Renders still give varying, different file lengths. Should be SAMPLE ACCURATE. The other guys do it… NYET!
4) Per item FX. If you really feel froggy… per item envelopes would be cool as well… OXI!!

Now I’m gonna have to get down-home and tell you a
story about my dog Freedom. When Freedom was young,
I always wanted him to chase the frisbee. But Freedom wouldn’t
chase the frisbee. Oh, he could do other tricks, like roll over,
and stand on his hind legs for a treat. But as time went on,
ol’ Freedom - well one day when we was walking in the park, there
were some kids throwing the frisbee around, and wouldn’t you know
it - he sprang into a full on run and snatched that frisbee just
before it hit the ground. So you see ‘D’, some things just take a
little longer - but in the end Freedom learned a new trick.
Now let me tell you about this fish I’ve been after - oh for

Yes, but it’s sooooo hard to wait. That’s why I’m not a fisherman… And when you know the new features are do-able items that the guy down the street has, but you want to stay with something you cut your teeth on, it gets frustrating. Oh well, lets hope for ver. 7

n-Track has had a four and a half YEAR head start! Yet Reaper is far, far ahead in features and stability. Now it’s true that the creator of Reaper is a self made millionaire and is doing Reaper because he WANTS to not because he HAS to. I don’t know what Flavio’s situation is and frankly don’t care. It may be that he has limited time to spend developing n-Track… I dunno… not my problem right?
Now let’s look at the financial aspect shall we? Reaper - $50.00 up to V3.99 Upgrade to V4 - Estimated $25. (Non-commercial)
Compared to the couple hundred or so I’ve spent on n-Track and subsequent “upgrades”? No contest… Which ever way I analyze this thing, n comes up short. Besides, it’s NOT a money thing! I’d PAY gladly for an n-Track that could compete!!
Version 7? What? Three or four years from now? Nah…
RESULT:
Time to retire ol’ “Freedom”…
By the way, this is not a dig at n-Track. If it works for you… great! It’s just not worth it to ME.
