Westboro Baptist Church Goes To Mississippi

  • And Loses

Free speech? No free speech??

I don’t know what precedent this sets but this story made me feel good.

Westboro Baptist Church Goes To Mississippi

No, that’s not an acceptable solution.

Hi BillClarke:

What are we missing here?
ME…
to be more precise…

We, up here in Canada, and you know…
have a stretch of Highway between Trenton and Toronto that has been named the “Highway of Heroes”…
I don’t think we (Canadians) have had to secure this stretch of the 401 from any protesters… What seems to be different in Mississippi ????

Bill…

300ft exclusion zone.

Bill,

The Westboro Whackos showed up in Manitoba to protest at the funeral of the “Bus-Beheading” victim, looking for some free publicity. When they were informed that this is Canada and we don’t tolerate that sort of sh!t around here they hightailed it back to Kansas.

One of the advantages of being a socialist democracy as opposed to a republic, I suppose.

Hi Bill:

That "Bus-Beheading" drama really struck home to Us Easterners over here..
As human nature goes that story has all but vanished from conversation..

What is it ???
AND why is History unable to teach us..
I'm not as religious as I think I am..
BUT
Why is it that we "Westerners" are unable to keep our noses out of the life-styles of other countries around the world.. Religious Wars have been going on sense time..

The French was in Viet Nam for 20 years before the Americans were there..
The Soviet Union was brought to it's knees then the Western countries went in there (The Middle-East) chasing after the biggest money the average people can create..
AND for what..

I guess I'm still missing something..
Those people don't want to live with our Life-style..
I don't think..

I guess I just don't understand continuing committing-and-promoting the loss of life by calling it war..

The only reason I can think we are over there is..
Are we there to protect our share of the Drug Production ????

I think my rant is over for today..

Bill..

Bill,

I can’t say that you’re wrong.

Back Again Bill:

I’m not old enough to remember much of the second World War…
However, my Uncle landed on the shores of Italy with the Americans, as the War wound Down…
He was lucky enough to have survived to return home in-and-around '46 and '47…
As we all know, many of our relatives (from both sides of the Battles) weren’t lucky enough to do-so…

How fortunate-or-unfortunate are we to have grown up in a time of “No World Wars” ????
AND how many lives have really been saved as a result of our World Government’s decisions not to embark in making “World War” ???? considering the daily loss of lives in many of these Countries " To what is called " Put A NAME TO IT" "

Many people who served time in the military during the Second World War are not with us anymore…
BUT those who remain agree with the idea that the only people that didn’t suffer any loss are those people in politics, who made the Countries “War-Time Decisions”… However, I’m not-so-sure that their decisions were always right…
Even Today…

Some say, it’s Battles-and-War, that keeps the World’s Wheels, turning…
Well…

Bill…

War is a terrible thing. Part of the problem is that World War II was justified. In the first war, we accused the enemy of all sorts of atrocities that they actually committed in the second war (though most of the world didn’t know it was happening until it was over). We tell ourselves now that it was Germany’s treatment of the Jews, Gypsies, (et al) that justified the war (and in the sense that it had to be stopped, that is true) but it wasn’t Germany’s treatment of those groups that caused us to go to war - it was their aggression towards their neighbour states that sent us to fight.

We have all, I believe, suffered from having fought a justified war - but ultimately it is good and right that it was done. Even if that wasn’t the original reason for going.

Perhaps it is war that has always driven the machinery of history. But just because it has always been that way doesn’t mean it always must be that way. At least, I prefer to think it doesn’t.

Hate-mongers are warmongers.

Hate and fear comes from where?

A base instinct to spread ones genes with rape and remove the competing genes from the population with murder. Dress it up, put it in uniform and call it war.

“Us and them” is an extension of “me versus everybody else”. Human and animal society is a practical compromise, a silent agreement, a formalised pattern of behaviour for protecting and spreading genes.
The partaking in society promotes the individual’s genes, partly and indirectly. So people like us are perceived as better than people that are not like us. Their genes are more similar.

Also, the gene-pool of an entire population can grow stronger from aggressive behaviour by that population, again the genes are spread. Can behaviour be programmed and inherited? The parts make up the whole, the whole influences the parts.

Us and them. The dis-similarities don’t have to be visible. If you don’t talk like I do, If you don’t think like me, you’re my enemy. If you don’t live here, you’re my enemy. If you try to come and live here, you’re my enemy.

Unhappiness begets unhappiness. Hate becomes an comforting habit. How can somebody that has never known happiness stop fighting?

Here is the proper task for religion, for philosophy. For an aware, thinking mind.
To rise above hate. To recognize what rules us and cast it aside.

All that you said = EGO.

Remove THAT and we thrive.
